1965 canso rear window seal

Question guys the 65 Acadian hardtop rear window seal has a gap to the body, is this normal, is it filled with something befor the trim goes on to hold the glass secure?

It's been about 25 years since I put one in my car but I remember it this way.

That rubber seal has a groove in it that fits over a pinchweld all the way around the body opening. You put the the glass into the rubber moulding first. Then the chrome trim goes into it's own special groove in the rubber seal. Then some sort of sealant (I forget what is used) goes into the groove in the seal that fits over the pinchweld. Then you use a string or something to go all the way around to get the lip of the seal over the pinchweld. Very similar setup to doing a windshield on a Chevy 1/2 ton of the 70's if I am right. Sorry I can't be more help.
