That Monaco Orange Dicky Harrell car is a COPO that was prepped by Harrell. Roger Day bought it new & sold it years ago. An inquiry at Team Chevelle years ago lead to the location of his old Chevelle v.i.n. & the task of buying & restoring the car took the next few years. I've chatted in the past with Roger about his car and found him to be a super-nice guy. Unfortunately he and his wife got Covid. Roger didn't make it but his wife did.

When you think about how rare certain performance cars were in Canada, it is astonishing that we got any COPO performance offerings at all. There were a few drag racers making good copy in the paper and there was good promotion in bringing a few of these beasts into Canada. That being said, Jim Mattison estimated there to be 20 COPO Chevelle brought into Canada for 1969. I know of 13 of them. The late Jay Hughes owned a Daytona Yellow one that was later bought by the late Pete Simpson. Keith Tedford & his friend both bought Cortez Silver ones but Keith sold his 8 years ago when the MOE started giving grief to everyone over petty stuff at cruises. There's a Frost Green one in Oakville (M21) owned by Scott Gayle & another originally from B.C. with an M40 in Chicago belonging to Scott Nolan. A classmate owned a Lemans Blue with white buckets COPO from 1979-84 (M21) and there's another in Quebec like it. The Monaco Orange COPO (M40) owned in the U.S. by Jeff Latondress was originally sold new in Ontario & another orange one came in with an M22. Albert Galterri (sp?) from N.J. restored a Fathom Green M22 COPO that was later sold through Legendary Motorcar that was a Canadian car (B.C.) but another just like it was sold out of Central Chev-Olds to a buyer in Brantford (car was crushed around 1991). That is not all but that is off the top of my head.

Another interesting fact was that in 1969 there were only 7 full-size Chevrolets imported to Canada with the L72 427. The L36 and lesser engined cars came from Oshawa for our market.
