B body Custom Driveshaft For 700-R4 Transmission

I am changing my Grande Parisienne to a Muncie and the driveshaft that was in the car behind the 700 automatic is not the same length. This driveshaft was custom built in Edmonton for Ken when he owned the car. It looks perfect, other than dirty, and as far as I know it worked fine for him in the car. Hopefully he will speak up here if there was something he wasn't happy with but as far as I know it worked fine. I believe Ken says it has about 14,000 miles on it.

As noted in the picture, it's 58 5/16" long from centre to centre on the U-joints.

This should fit any 65-70 Canadian Pontiac or Impala, Caprice etc if you are doing a 700 trans conversion.

$75, free delivery to south Winnipeg at my convenience.  I am strictly guessing but I'd be willing to bet it cost 4 times that to get it built.

I am also willing to ship at your expense of course.

Carl...Do you know the correct length for a Muncie driveshaft? It fits the PG tranny too?

Muncie, 3 speed manual and Powerglide are all the same length in 66. For 65 I think the 3 speed manual shaft is different because it's the one with no syncros in low and reverse if I am remembering right.

No turning back now, Unless you want to go back to a two speed glide

Bumping this up once and if no takers in a couple of days I guess off to Kijiji. I have no use for it and it's one more thing to trip over!

Dumb question re the u-joint on the diff end: Is it for the wide or narrow pinion yoke?

It has the U bolts on the pinion yoke which I think always means the small joint does it not? Didn't the bigger joint always use the straps with bolts? Or what has your experience been.

And from what I know, the small joint would make sense because only the TH400 got the big joints in those years from what I've seen.

For my 1970 cars, both the wide & narrow pinion yokes use bolts & straps.   The narrow yoke accepts an u-joint that is 3-1/8" wide, the wide yoke accepts a u-joint that is 3-1/2" wide.

How wide is the u-joint on the driveshaft?

The nice thing with GM U-joints is that you can pretty much make it fit any diff with all the choices of conversion U joints available.

Had to get a U joint with both sizes in one because the rear yoke on the diff. Was large
