Internet cruelty

Sometimes I have trouble believing guys can be this mean.

A guy on a US Pontiac group posted this pic, saying this happened 1/2 mile from his house. It looks like it was a nice Tempest, but has GTO emblems on it.

A guy replied "Thats what happens when you put GTO emblems on a Tempest or Lemans"

I had the same thought. When someone challenged him on it, he said "I have 9 GTO's" so I think it's the other way.....he thinks he has a right to put down someone else's clone because he has 9 GTO's. LIkely a guy who doesn't enjoy them, just hoards them.

This how I replied to his initial comment "Seriously? Maybe he can't afford a GTO. Maybe he bought it that way. There's many options here, let's not be too harsh on the guy who just lost his car..."

Exactly, some guy loses his treasure and then some keyboard genius craps on his car to boot.

Problem with the internet is that it gives any idiot a voice, even the ones that shouldn't have one.  Most of those people wouldn't dare say any such thing in person, but anonymity gives them the perceived power to let all their inner demons out with little repercussions.

The best thing is to ignore them.  Responses give them the attention they are looking for.

Hopefully the owner of the car didn't see it, but I'm sure he has more important things on his mind than what one idiot who allegedly owns GTOs thinks.  I hope he wasn't seriously injured as it looks like a nasty crash.

There was a 1966 Chevelle SS396 that about a dozen years ago was hit just as badly as that, it looked like very similar damage. It took the owner over a year but the car was all fixed up and is being driven again. No issues.

Sitting behind a keyboard allows one to be impulsive, and seemingly without accountability. It is an illusion though, all postings have a source address & wrapper and can all be traced back.

The bottom line is, the condition of one's heart and mind are evident in one's posts. Some people are sick and they don't even realize it. Human civility is for others, the putting down of others and disassociating from the perceived offending group is driven by a need to elevate oneself. It usually is a sign of poor self image or insecurity.

I'm so glad that ALL of us here are above such childishness!
