That is one abrupt and deep ditch. It looks like the edge of the earth. It trapped both a 1949 Meteor and a 1949 Mercury 1-ton truck trying to rescue it. In visualizing the forces opposing each other in that picture, it is the breaking point at any link in that chain.

its the angle of the dangle that counts.  A little more head scratching needed.
