My Not So New Radio Show!

I figured I'd start a new thread to importune you guys to listen to the show that I have been doing for a year and a bit now. As you probably know, it s two hour mix of  of all kinds of stuff that the mind of an aging baby boomer thinks  is worthwhile to listen to, so should appeal to many of you!

This week is no exception with some Italian type tunes, a few crooners, a touch of bluegrass, a few one hit Canadian acts (too bad), a bit of comedy and even some Ukrainian music among other stuff.

Again it's at 1800 hours (Alberta time) on Mondays on Boreal FM 92.1. It has a live feed on the website and there is a link too.

I don't get paid for this gig but it is nice to think I'm not talking to myself!

And Carl, I am compelled to play just one Beatles tune tonight.  (Sort of unavoidable as you will understand if you don't boycott the whole show!)

Keep it up Ken,  you're doing great.  i think i've only missed one or 2.   I agree with Carl not a big beatles fan,  but they have a 1/2 dozen that are OK.   "you've got to hide your love away",  is one of my favorite Beatles tunes.

Oh great Dave, swell his head up even more... Up till now he was only guessing he had any listeners, now you've confirmed he has one.

Great show Ken, talk about variety. Favourite part? No question, the Smothers Brothers. Absolutely classic, nobody can ever match their style.

Sorry you ended the show on such a bad note!

You must be stalking me on street view! The station is actually in the basement of the building on the right of the picture.  Not exactly palatial. The picture dates from 2013 so the rubber is from a Grande Parisienne i was thrashing at the time. The poor guy who got it has no idea....

Haha, that makes sense because the Impala has posi.

And the Grande Parisienne is going to get one!

Yeah it was the one and only time so far that the Google car has visited here. As it happened I had taken the Grande in for a wheel alignment (and new tires after roasting them off (heh heh). Then I had gone to the local Ford dealership to pick up our new 2013 red Flex. i went back to see if it was done and happened to be taking the corner just as the car went by so the picture below shows the Grande parked and myself in the Flex. What are the chances?

Alright!  Back to business!  This week we have movie music, that is a few from musicals but mostly just good tunes i found in some either good or not-so-good movies.  Just to torture you I wont say what movie it's from until after I play the song. Most should be a slam-dunk for you perspicacious  bunch!  Should be fun. i might even give as few movie reviews just to be extra pretentious!

Six O'Clock Alberta time!

Rats, I'm going to have to miss most of the second half tonight. I'll be expecting someone to keep track of what I missed...

what a great show!  very entertaining tonight.

As soon as you started playing The Doors,  i thought to myself:  wait a minute! this song was also in 2 Lane Blacktop!   were we on the same wavelength?  or did you add that one in after you saw my comment?    For such a low end movie,  it had some high end mainstream songs.

i did add it. Satisfaction was sung by Laurie Bird so I wanted to use the actual band.  Thanks for the idea though!

I was thinking about the movie songs from last week. You could easily fill another night or 2 with those. I was making a list in my head of good ones.

Hi guys, I was planning to do a show or maybe two with "Songs that tell a Story" plus a few actual stories as well.   The best ones really have a strong point or two to make or are just really sad or really funny so there will be a variety.  To get the most out of them you have give them your full attention so I hope people can do that.

As for the movie tunes send me a PM with your list and maybe I can put together another one. I used most of the sound track albums I own but there are other ways to find movie tunes...  it was kinda fun alright!

What is the average number of songs you would say are in each show Ken?

Average would be about 34 depending on the length. Story songs tend to be a bit longer than average songs.
