90% of Norway new car sales are all electric

According to this article it hasnt made a dent in fossil fuel demand yet. Assuming the fleet of gas/diesel vehicles is say 10/20 years old on average, it will be a long time before the fossil fuel demand declines dramatically. When you look at the major users of fossil fuels, airlines, marine vessels, electric generating, and the growth of economies in say India, Africa, and Asia, all using fossil fuels, the oil sands will be in production for a long time to come.

The heavy-handed forcing of electrics has necessarily spurred development, which I believe was at the minimum the intention. I don't want to comment further because of where it might go.

I believe Norway is a huge exporter of Natural Gas and uses that income to subsidize their EV infrastructure. Speaking of EV's my friends who had their Tesla stored in my garage for the winter came and picked it up the other day. The right front wheel was seized for some reason. They had to rock the car back and forth until a loud "PING!" was heard and the wheel started moving. Not sure if the car uses the front calipers as a parking brake or if something in the electric drive had seized. They weren't impressed!

I was in Norway maybe 10 years ago. They had a severe tax on internal combustion cars, cant remember if it was 80% or 100%.
No tax on EVs. Free parking for EVs. Free charges while parked for EVs. etc.
There were Teslas everywhere - while they were still a pretty rare sight here. I think someone told me a new Tesla cost nearly the same as a Nissan Sentra

There are tons of Teslas around here in Toronto. They are ubiquitous.

You got that right Cameron. They are everywhere down in our corner. So much so they've become just another car, invisible, which is good I guess. And for those that can enjoy them, good.

The big mall here has maybe 25 Superchargers. They are always full.
