51 Frame Diagram

Looking to do a swap of the front end on my old Poncho and looking for any frame diagrams with dimensions.  Vendors I've contacted can source parts for a 51 American Chevy but when I tell them it's a CDN Pontiac they cannot confirm fit.

So far everything I've bought using a Chevy part numbers in the past has worked out, and  "its basically a re-badged Chevy" so I'm sure things will fit.  But its a big chunk of coin to spend on a "hope it fits".  So if anyone has any frame diagrams for either a chevy or poncho, it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

TM

I did contact the GM Historical group and they did get back saying the frames were basically identical.  I've been in touch with several others building on the chevy frames, and everything I've seen the frames are the same.  I've changed my direction a bit - still swapping a 6.0/4L80 into it, but decided on keeping the original front end.  Just about ready to do my first test fit so we will see how things go.

For the rear end, I installed the Chassis Engineering leaf spring setup years ago and have been very pleased with it.

Cheers

Hello

Did you find a diagram for your 51 project?

I have a Maintenance Manual for the 1949 to 1950 Series 2000 - 2200

I also have a Parts Catalogue for the 1937 to 1951 , No 327 ( Chassis ).

The Maintenance Manual does have frame illustrations with some dimensions,  but Like I said the books is labelled to 1950.

The Part Catalogue has illustrations but no dimensions , just reference numbers for parts.

In my project I swapped out the torque tube diff and used an 8.2 -10 bolt out of a 1980 Camaro , mainly because the width was the exact same dimension 56 " flange to flange.

For the front I made a rack and pinion set up using a rack from a 1994  Chevy cavalier, Center action unit.  Works really good.

If this , or something I related to  is of interest, send me a pm and I'll see if I can help.

Regards

Dale
