Sad to see his physical condition..... He sure seems to still have all his wits about him though!

I stumbled across that video this afternoon, very sad to see his physical condition.

He has to sell everything to pay his medical bills, also very sad.

He is a "walking encyclopedia" on muscle cars. Especially weird anomalies that most of us never heard of. I have one of his books on just those odd, one off, muscle car options.

Something to be said about our Canadian hospitalization insurance....

Pretty sad video. He always seemed so upbeat and loving what he did. He's still trying but you can see the sadness and how much the disease and the system down there has taken out of him.  Its a double whammy.

Wow, I don't see any of the gloom and doom and feeling sorry for the guy. He's a winner, he beat the disease and now he's ridding himself of all the things that will hamper him living the best life he can. Kudos Steve!!

Good perspective as usual Ray !
I'm starting to believe in the parallel reality conspiracy theory.
I was certain that I read that Mr. Magneto actually passed on.
Thanks

I think it's natural for Canadians to feel sorry for the guy having to sell his house and all his stuff, as we are fortunate enough to have public healthcare (for now).  In a parallel universe where he was Canadian, he would have been able to keep his house and stuff after battling and winning against the illness.  I didn't see any joy in his face when he said he has to sell his home to pay for healthcare expenses.

I agree, though, in that he is a winner.  Seems like a great guy, and I imagine that might get him some assistance from his many friends and fans.  I think he is one of the good ones and wish him well.

Unfortunately Ray he says at the beginning of the video he has to sell everything (including his house) to pay the medical bills.

Not grouchy not arguing but he actually did not say that. I see a guy who accepts his situation and is doing what he needs to do to settle his expensive medical bills and live his best life.

I'm thinking about selling my house and cars and stuff too and I have fairly decent health but keeping up a huge corner lot in Toronto, garage and equipment, cars and landscaping effort and maintenance is really taking away time from those that matter most to me and hampering my quality of life. Definitely be much better off without it all.

Yeah Ray you are thinking bigger picture for sure. I've been struggling with the same thinking for a couple of years but only making some small, feeble moves to do anything about it. It usually takes a health scare to spur us into that shedding stuff. I've been to a few auctions of car stuff that were precipitated by that kind the thing and the proponents usually look pretty sad just because it signals the end of something. But to move on you have to look at it as the beginning of a simpler life. Keep the memories, dump the stuff.

I dont understand why with his notoriety in the car world that some one hasnt started a go fund me page to help him out? Surplus funds beyond his expenses could be put towards medical research in this and other areas.

"I'm getting close to liquidating my house and my property because of expensive medical bills." I took that to mean he is selling his house and property? Is that not what he is saying? Or is he saying he hasn't decided yet?

I get what is being said by Ray, in essence that Steve has a great and positive attitude. It really goes deeper into healing than you might think.

Realistically stuff is just stuff, and sooner or later our lease on life runs out. Then what?

It is great to be an enthusiast for something, but to make it your whole reason to be, strikes me, well, a little like idol worship. If it makes you happy, wonderful! If you live and die over stuff there may be a problem.

I still get a thrill out of automotive finds, of great builds, out of specials and rarities, and just out of seeing an interesting daily driver that is given lots of love and attention.

The rumblings about this and that, the sky falling and such, isn't going to matter in 10,000 years when the next ice age is here.

Yo Steve! Stay positive!

That sounds like he has exhausted ALL other means of paying his bills.

You would think, if you are a car guy that knows anything about Steve, that it would not got this far. For him to have to liquidate what he owns to exist.....

He wrote for HOT ROD magazine, along with others that escape my memory. He was the "colour guy" at Barret Jackson for a number of years, rhyming off seldom known stats about a vehicle on the auction block.

BJ auctions all ways trying to appear to be doing "the right thing" donating to numerous charities. Really, they have to look closer to home..... Just my .02 cents

I agree. BJ needs to step up and help him out. I know there are all kinds of philosophical theories as to why they shouldn't (I've read a number of them in the comments in his video) but I still think whatever Steve's medical bills are it's just a drop in the bucket for them.
