Inner Fender Colour for a 68 Full size

Hi guys,

I finally got my car back from the restoration shop (frame swap) and I want to clean up the engine bay some more.
What colour should the inner fenders be painted?

I assume black, but what sheen? Semi-gloss, low gloss etc? Also, what would be the best brand of spray bomb for this?

Opinions appreciated.

Regards, Scott (Landshark ...)

My quick research this morning comes up with Satin Black as the best match to factory sheen. I just checked with other Forums and Restoration sites.

Thanks Ray.

Any suggestion on a brand of paint for under hood areas? I assume something that can handle high heat.

Krylon has always worked well for me.

Oshawa sometimes gave it a random swipe or two of some kind of rough and hard deadener right?. Hit and miss. Asbestos in it probably.

Blackish of some kind. Right over that nice shiny, medium black and freshly stamped liner.

My 65 had the hard liner (hit) which I never worked harder in my life to remove, and I know my 69 did too, which Randy gave up may hours as well. So a good range.

Medium Black Krylon is it. The best.

Maslack auto parts and paint... They have the closest, best coverage I've found. It's their private label I believe. It is a satin and I found the coverage and the pattern to be very good.
Krylon has changed their paint in the last couple of years. Four or 5 years ago it was dead on, now it's too shiny.

I ended up getting the Eastwood Underhood black that I think looks great.

I also replaced the label in the direction recommended by a few guys on this site.

I love the "396" decal that they placed over top of the Tonawanda Chevrolet decal!
