Its done my 67 Impala is live on bring a trailer

Been an interesting process.  put an ad in for a photograper/video guy and was contacted by person.  did some photos and video and then he was not available ....  finally got a terabite disc with video but needed to be massaged and put on utube.  well beyond my experience.

In frustration i expressed my dilemma to Bring A Trailer and they set up a photographer to put together my listing for a fee.

All went well and the listing went live today till July 24

considering the customized messes that you can come across on BAT, I am genuinely surprised at the negative nelly's commenting;
Their beefs are all "small fries";
the car is a reliable driver, and all the quibbles can be taken care of in a day.

Let the next owner determine if they want to change the car's stance and deal with header headaches, or if they think it's fine;
Let the next owner decide if they want the door speakers to be removed or relocated.

I say, good luck with the sale;
That car appears to me to present it self as a beautiful example of a 1967 Impala.

I hope it gets bid up, and the next owner gets another fourty-five years of enjoyment out of it!

With exposure like this and an international market with some USD, it will sell.
Personally I have always thought a '67 Impala Sport Coupe in Marina Blue is an attractive car. Cliff, your car is about what I would have like to have done over the years. The Rally Wheels are perfect for the car.
Such a drag about the scrape, but you've had 45 good years with it and divesting may bring some peace to you and some joy to a new owner.

Hopefully the US buyers on BAT have an idea on how to import it in to the US. When I was selling the 454 Laurentian on eBay, I had plenty of interest from the US, but none of them had any idea on how to deal with customs. I even contacted a broker in Detroit who provided all the paperwork, but the common reply was "it just too complicated".

 I had the same issues with USA buyers last year .... Many had no clue of the import rules .... On another note , shipping vehicles to the USA has doubled ( if not tripled ) in the last few years . It is what it is , so it will just take some time for potential buyers to come to grip with todays reality of fuel / labour costs. The ideal customer would be someone who can cross the border and pick it up themselves ...

With our weak Canadian $,  the Impala should be very attractive in price to compensate .

Doesn't BAT help buyers (and sellers) with importing & exporting?

As I recall Cliff had car originally listed at $40,000 or $43,000 over a year ago. Obviously the market for these type of cars is difficult to sell in. What is the collective wisdom on the bid to $15,500? Is that a low ball or reflective of current market conditions and value of the car?

I think the damage on the side was a big deterrant. Could be a 5-10k fix to do it properly with paint etc.

Excellent point Todd, so with that discount factored in then a $25,000 car?

Hagerty lists a base 67 Impala at $22500 USD in excellent condition (albeit with a 275hp 327) so I'd say somewhere around there. It's looking like the collectible car market is on a bit of a downturn. Lots of cars are sitting on Marketplace and Kijiji for weeks (or months) at current prices yet owners aren't dropping prices (why would they when prices to do the restoration work has gone through the roof?). Results on many auctions are down from a year ago. There's a lot of uncertainty in the world right now esp with an election year in the US. This is just my 2 cents.

 Todd is right on.

Add into the equation that most American buyers are nervous about buying outside the US and worry about the import process.

The process for an American resident is simple and can be done with a broker and shipping company.

However if the buyer wants an interesting road trip they can import the car themselves at the border crossing and pay the taxes when registering the car in their home state.

I have sold several cars to US buyers and they remarked later how simple it was to do it themselves.

All this plus the repairs required for Cliff's car make the 'bid to' amount about right (IMHO).

Ive had a bit of experience on BAT mostly as a buyer but also have a good friend in Canada who sells on BAT. My general comments about BAT is that it is a good place to sell high value desirable cars and a good place to BUY lower value (say under $50k) cars. Basically its a curated eBay. Your car would do better on eBay in that it would be seen by more people and the bidders wouldnt be facing a 5% fee on top of their bid. While its the bidder who pays in effect the seller eats it because bidders factor it in.

No question that a car that is located in Canada scares off a LOT of potential US buyers. Three reasons, importing into the US spooks people from a complication, cost and risk perspective (perception not reality drives the decision). Secondly is the high cost of shipping into the US. I can ship a car 1,300 miles from Florida to my home in Maine for half the cost to ship 300 miles from say Montreal to me. Third is that to many buyers Canada equals rust out. My friend now brings the cars he sells across the border and sells them as being in the US, really helps relieve bidders concerns by removing all those potential issues. If you look at a car that sells often and has less value impacting variations like body style, powertrain etc like the 94-96 Impala SS for example they clearly sell for about 25% less (all else being equal) if they are in Canada. This is particularly true for cars that are not exceptional in terms of superb original condition and or very desirable rare models.

As for your listing my personal opinion is you were WAY too transparent of all youve done to the car. Replacing the frame, quarters and floors etc spooks people as does stories about it smashed into snow banks. Im not suggesting dishonesty but discretion. If a bidder asks a question answer it honestly but in the description for the auction just describe current specs and condition as well as very recent service. Also, especially considering the history of the car your auction would have benefitted from a bunch of very clear up close photos of the undercarriage especially typical trouble spots like lower rear quarters viewed from below, rear wheel openings, floors, trunk floors etc

Lastly the market is definitely off this year (probably back to pre Covid levels). This seems to have particularly affected lower valued cars (under $50k say). I do think you are on the right track trying to sell in the US as youd probably get the same or more here in US dollars than you will in Canada in Canadian dollars.

If I were you Id get the body damage properly repaired and install a set of repro door cards (relocate the speakers under the dash or seats) and list the car on eBay but located in Buffalo. You can just drive it across the border when it sells. Much easier for you to just drive it over the border and the state DMVs dont care about where the car came from as long as the buyer has a bill of sale and signed over title or registration.

Btw, that is a beautiful car, 67 fastback is the single nicest fullsized chevy ever built and your color combo is beautiful, popular with buyers and quintessential mid sixties. All the after market stuff turns away most potential buyers though which is why you need maximum exposure because you are looking for that small percentage of buyers who arent looking for either bone stock cars or high end customized cars with mega engines, full custom interiors and slammed air suspension with 24 sewer cap sized mags.
