Hard to believe finding four 427 cars in such a small town.

Not to derail the other post.

This is an original owner car that just down the road from me.

Central Chev Olds ordered, US built, car.

Mike's car below is a well documented. Formally owned by the local high school shop teacher, we all grew up with this car.

At one point it had a 427 out of a 1969 Grand Parisienne and I got the shell of that car given to me by the teacher (1986-ish)

No way to prove that that motor is still in there.

The Chevelle, I never got to speak to the owner.

And me, sporting those hubcaps. Now boxed and put away biggrin

The 1969 Impala (Non SS) 427, 4-speed being built near me(St Thomas), has been owned by the same man since 1975.

Super rare, two tone car, that should be finished a full restoration in 2025.

Canadian car possibly a 390 horse motor.

Apparently, all 1969 427, 4 speeds, had air pumps from the factory according to him confuse

Mike, the owner of the blue car has a better inside line on that 1969 2+2, 396 car that I deamed about for years.

The owner will only sell to a close friend if he ever sells it at all.

I was after that car for 40 years but not anymore.

I would love to help him build that car.

When you say Mike, you may be referring to Mike Rientjes. I spoke with him about that Impala many years ago. His L72 B-body is one of seven sold new in Canada for 69. You posted current pictures of two of them at the same show! Both an SS427 Sport Coupe and a convertible. I hadn't seen Mike's Impala SS427 since probably 2005 or earlier; it looks to be repainted since I saw it last time. His car came with fender skirts, wheel covers, bench seat, 4-speed & the L72.

Yes, all '69 V8s with manual transmissions (sixes too) came with a.i.r. pumps. We had grace of one year over the U.S. where the a.i.r. pumps were standardized federally for the 68s. In 1968 any U.S. cars coming into Canada new that would have had the a.i.r. pumps had RPO KD1 - A.I.R. Delete specified on the option lists.

In almost all cases for 1970 the TCS replaced the a.i.r. pump. TCS is the vacuum advance timer that locks out for 30 seconds in high gear, and locks out totally in lower gears...

CdnGMfan.... I know of at least 2 L-72 69 cars. One just changed hands in the last year, rather cheap. Rumoured to be in Hamilton area, went for $10-12K cheaper than asking. Are the seven a documented number? Seems rather low..

That is the documented number Mike gave me in 2005. Only 546 L72s were installed in big Chevies for 1969, out of over a million. Seven came new into Canada, which seems a little low but entirely believable. What I find surprising is twenty COPO Chevelle 427s came into Canada as well (I know of 13 of them). Central in London, Ontario in 1970 ordered 10 COPO Nova LT1 coupes but only received 2. One survived to the present day.

WOW.... That # 546 seems wayyy to low for the number of cars produced.      confuseconfuse

I would think the USA law enforcement would have ordered a bunch of BB cars, Tennessee, New York, Pennsylvania. This guy said he had a BB cop car for 67/68/69.   I have a friend who has a 66 BB cop car too.

Yes that is correct , only 546 L72's were put into the larger B bodies by GM in 1969. ( Thats all body styles )
There was a documented L72 Convertible in ThunderBay , but I believe that car was recently sold and shipped to the USA and now getting restored. That car was one of the 7 shipped to Canada so it had Canadian documentation . I had a L72 SS427 myself ( Doraville GA built. It was a project I bought 25 years ago and almost identical to Mikes .Its been since parted out . I still have the title and the build sheet .

Yes, this is Mike Rientjes.

Like I said, if he ever gets a hold of that 396 2+2, I would love to help him rebuild it.

As for the 427, 4 speed 2+2s I'll bet there are more than the 5, I know of, still out there.

The famous 1978 GM letter says 12 built and my 2022 docs say 10.
