Interesting perspective on how things of changed from the original musclecar days to now.

Not Pontiac but and interesting tale. Should the factory tell this guy why the engine blew or are they right to keep it a "proprietary secret"?

Todd.. This guy is known for his rants. I saw another blurb about the "Silver Bullet" chrysler/street racer (out the back door) car. He went off about it going to auction in the past few months about it "really" being the original car. He made his point at about the 4 minute mark as far as I'm concerned.

Hard to believe the dealer stonewalled this guy about the cause of the metal in the oil. I'm surprised they gave him a new engine!!! He should be happy because Chrysler never fixed any of the Hemi's for free that blew up from 2011.... Not that I know of. Some guys never got the trucks home before they lost the lifters and rollers.......

I agree. I used to be a fan of Uncle Tony but he seems to be the ranting and bit$&ing about everything now. Calls out EVERYTHING that he deems  wrong. Its all for views and subscribers on social media platforms so its all worth about a bag of $hit. As it was put to me today, put wishes in one hand and $hit in the other and see which weighs more. Basically means SFA.

A different story, but it sounds reminiscent of the 1963 Chevrolet Mystery Motors. Chevrolet swooped in and took them back after GM enforced it's AMA racing ban after Daytona.

The gist I got from the story is the car was still under factory warranty. The owner had every right to get a new engine as he was using it for it's intended purpose- racing. The beef the owner (and Tony) has is if it's a known defect in this engine will the replacement also blow up when being raced and will he be on the hook for a $50k engine if this happens after the warranty expires? Tony's argument is Chrysler used to share tech tips and updates with those who raced the cars back in the day and that's no longer the policy. He feels Chrysler should share what happened to this engine to the owner. I'm not sure if I agree 100% with that but you would hope that if they find a factory defect they issue a recall or bulletin on a fix.

The guys with HEMI's that blew up from lifter issues should have been covered if they were still under the powertrain warranty (which I believe is still 5 years/ 100k here in Canada)

I think this is different ground than a regular passenger vehicle with a warranty engine replacement, though even then you dont get info on its cause unless a recall is issued (and even then you dont get all of the info).

Im a little surprised that they cover it for racing as that never used to be the case.  Racing has always been about paying your money and taking your chances, and if you cant afford to blow an engine (or wreck your car), you probably shouldnt be doing it.
