Here is a pic of a 1960 Oldsmobile Wagon that I saw recently, ......... similar, but not as cool as a Pontiac
I am an Oldsmobile fanatic and I do love that body style but I have always wanted a Pontiac wagon! I have a 1963 F85 Wagon too, but as all 63-68 era cars, it quite square, see below!

Getting the car ready to go to the body guy. Steve had been working on wiring: this is some of the junk wire he removed. The scariest thing he found so far was the battery cable was melted to the header pipe. There is so much derelict wiring, damaged wire or improperly connected wiring: he even had to remove a handful of wire nuts: those screw on caps used for house wiring. He is hoping to avoid having to purchase a new wiring harness. (stupid rotating photos)
We are taking the wagon to a local welder/body guy George, so we needed to get the hood back on the car, but we first had to see if we could correct it. Turned out pretty good but we added a hood strap for the road trip as the secondary catch is not installed.
With the car at the welding/body shop we still have lots to do. Having accessed what we need for the front end and transmission conversion, Steve has been busy ordering parts. He also got the carpets clean enough for me to paint them. If you want to give this a go, you will need 5-6 rattle cans to do front and rear carpets.
We used regular Tremclad which will also cover the rust stains well! We have done this before with great success and it saves a few hundred dollars and a whole lot of work fitting carpets. The aftermarkets never fit worth a crud anyway!
George has done a real nice job of the nose of the car.
We had identified a number of floor pan issues: he chased the thin spots back to the source of the trouble and patched everything in after using rust blocker.Keeping in mind that we are not restoring this car, we are just bringing it back to a fun and safe operatable driver!
By east coast standards, that old wagon was extremely solid. How are the inside rockers?
The interior work on carpet and panels is inspiring and your metal guy is impressive.

Thank you for the lead TEMPEST , I have checked with him on some things.
DONSSD, the inner rockers are good. There was one floor pan brace that was rotted, he cut out all the bad stuff. Sprayed rust stop in the cavity first then welded in a patch, then sprayed truck bed liner to seal it all up. We also have a gallon of rust stop we intend to treat everything we see before moving forward.
Does any one here know of a product that we can use on the exterior that seals the surface without making it look glossy or like something has been sprayed on? The car will be stored inside when not in use and i am considering to just leave it as is as I do not like the 'clear coat look' eve if it is satin flat finish. My 63 pickup has never been treated, have owned it for nearly 15 years and it has not advanced. Even WD40 changes the look, linsead oil makes it shiny too.
While waiting for the car to come back, more jobs needed attention. Steve bead blasted all the window cranks and interior handles then painted them with Titanium Metallic Silver paint: way better than they were for very little cost!
Meanwhile I had been waiting (im)patiently for the Vintage Vehicle Services report offered by GM Canada for Canadian Delivered Vehicles!
The shop manuals are 'like new' short of a wee bit of 'shelf wear' after 60+ years!

Just wax your car. i also dislike the look of clear coat on patina, The roof of this car is original paint and i painted the bottom to match. The wax gives it just a touch of SHEEN Iwax all the chrome also.
