Order your dream Pontiac/GM of Canada car

Okay you can time travel to any year in the past with all the knowledge you have now and you walk into a Pontiac dealership to order your perfect Pontiac/GM of Canada vehicle. What is it? Year. Make. Model. Trim. Colors. Options.

You can only order one car. And you can't bet on sports. You are there just to buy a perfect car.

RE: Order your dream Pontiac

That is a difficult thing, as some cars do things very well and other things not so much so. You might want a comfy luxury cruiser, or you might need something nimble and easy to park. Maybe you need a wagon.

The answer is obvious: Aztek!  disbelief

Who knows how those refuse wagon looking things will be on the market in the future?

You said Pontiac. I read that as Pontiac-Buick dealer, so a Beaumont would very likely be the one. What I do at purchase time is buy the vehicle I realistically want. My last 3 cars have been wagons, so a Beaumont wagon then? I don't know, maybe a '67 Beaumont wagon, 327 4-speed with factory disks (I guess winter driving is out).

I've seen stories on happy original owners with 1973 Grande Ville convertibles with north of 200,000 miles, the 455 needed nothing to keep it going (except lots of gas).

A B07 Police Option Strato Chief? Or a '68 Parisienne 2+2. Maybe a '65 Parisienne Sport Deluxe with either 409 & a 4-speed. Or any Grande Parisienne coupe (or a sedan with a 4-speed). So many possibilities back then.

How about an early Astre? hmm  What?! Order h.d. cooling for sure; overheating killed many a 2300 OHC. Drop in an aluminum Olds or Buick 215 V8.

Seriously, some of my favorites are the 1971/72 LeMans. Order a wagon with r.p.o. T41 - GTO front clip. Or a Luxury LeMans 4-door with a 400 4-barrel & automatic (455 L75 would be great but so would the fuel consumption). I'm thinking in terms of a single all-purpose vehicle.

Or I'd really like a '73 Grand Am 4-door 4-speed. Seriously.

That's pretty easy for me, now I assume its 1968 September and I have the same lot in life I do today.

It's a triple black 1969 Grande Parisienne 427.

Easy one for me too. I would walk into Conroy Pontiac Buick and order a 1967 Beaumont SD Cheetah with a 427.

Seeing the last two posts make me think how cool a Cheetah wagon would be!

It would be like Johnny Cash's song ONE PIECE AT A TIME with the interior off a 59 Buick Electra fully equipped, except a 3 on the tree from a 51 Olds, a 59 Impala fins, a 76 Grand Prix swivel seats, front end from a 57 Grande Parisienne with concealed headlights, a 455 Rocket under the hood and it would be a red convertible. That should turn heads and people will ask WHAT IS IT?

I have to agree with Ray, this would be an outstanding car with a 4 speed and air.   I need it as a tow car for my 65 GTO, black on black post car.........For Ponchos.

But for any GM car....It would have be  a 1969 L88 Corvette coupe.  (they were delivered to Canada)

If you want a car that looks like it was designed by committee, check out any 1987-95 Chrysler Le Baron. One team did the front, another the middle, and a 3rd did the trunk, or at least it seems that way.

Yes, should have specified 4 speed as well as 4 door hardtop with black vinyl roof, rally wheels and twin white-walls. A 1969 version of the Executive Class sedan.

1968 Firebird 400 convertible

- 400 Ram Air

- 4-speed manual transmission

- Verdoro Green exterior

- #257 Gold Custom interior with Strato buckets

- Black power top

- Rally II wheels

- Hood tach

- If I get to live in 1968, then AM radio will suffice (lots of good AM stations back then), otherwise will have to spring for AM/FM

- Everything else standard.  Don't need too many frills, though I could be persuaded into power windows if the salesman is particularly good at talking me into things.
