Handheld GPS experience?

Anyone use a handheld GPS? Any that you know to be good, or know to be bad?

I'd like to buy one and only need it for one purpose.  When I'm standing at a certain spot, I need to be able to see my coordinates and make a note of them so  I can return to that location easily.   To explain, let's say I bury a pot of gold and want to be able to easily find that location sometime down the road, be it a week, a month or a year.

I'd prefer not to spend a fortune on a unit because I won't use it a lot but I also want it to do the job when I need it to.

Yes, I have used one for hunting. Accurate down to 10-20 feet, depending on the number of satellites it can find. The more the better. Look in Bass Pro under hunting, take your pick. Very easy to use. Heck, your Iphone will do that too. Go to Ihunter  (if my memory is correct)

My iPhone is OK, but only if you sit in one spot for several minutes. I use it while riding off-road and it frequently shows me miles off course. Stop for a few minutes and it finally finds me. Not sure what happened, but the iPhone GPS used to be great, but about 2 years ago, it suddenly became terrible (and this is true even after upgrading my phone).
A buddy has an older Android phone and its way more accurate. I think he paid $50 for it. No SIM card, no contract and the battery is weak, but its essentially always plugged in when in use. Im now looking for an old Android to use for this purpose.

I-Phone, LOL. You don't know me very well! I barely have a cell, never mind an I-Phone. For about 10 years now I've been using a hand-me-down Samsung Galaxy 3 our son gave me!

10-20 foot accuracy would be fine for what I want to do with it.

So far I can't find GPS stuff on my Samsung but it may just be too old. I think it's around 15 years old.

I have a Compass app on my android phone, it lists your coordinates.

Carl, it's time to join the 21st century and get a halfway modern cellphone, with a data plan.

Nope, for the little I use it, I can't justify the expense.

Go to your google look up feature and enter IHUNTER....that is the program. If you are walking it is excellent, riding an ATV 90%. The program has been around for 10+ years. Then you don't need to but another  device...

I go days on end without ever doing a phone call on my cell. Basically all I do with my phone is text and the occasional call to the tune of maybe 30 minutes a month. No data on it. I would assume IHUNTER needs data.
