67-70 Deluxe steering wheel, questions,

The plan is to eventually get a deluxe reproduction wheel on the tilt column I'm getting for my 69.

Questions;

Has anyone ever attempted to change out the Chevrolet logo on the deluxe horn cap?

Will that center section come away from the stamped cap section?

Was a deluxe wheel ever made available on a CP?

The plan would be to somehow adapt a pontiac arrowhead cap center onto the Chevrolet cap.

It looks like that center section may come out owing to the visible pins,

I had thought of doing the same thing and adding a maple leaf emblem for a Beaumont. I have the same cap in your picture. I believe the studs on the back hold the bow tie in place. It may actually hold the entire center portion in place. This is a repro cap?

might want to consider changing the paint colors from red, blue and white to complete the transformation.

The cap pictured (not mine) is a NOS GM part. eBay item.

I would personally buy a repro cap to cut up/modify. Would you use a 69 door panel emblem for your center?

No, I'd never bust up a nos cap.

Not sure of the arrowhead to use, but I'll find something that will fit in that circle.

Does the 69 steering wheel arrowhead have a bit of a bend to it to fit the profile of the shroud?

Hi, I wanted to do something similar for my 67 SD using the "wood"" wheel. I used a 69-77 buick sport wheel horn cap. These have a diecast back like the chevy cap but have a rubber retainer to hold the plastic emblem. I took a Beamont horn button and removed the plastic emblem and resized it to fit in the buick cap. I think it turned out pretty well. (I used a cap that had a couple of stress cracks as I couldn't do it to a real nice cap either) I have attached a couple of pictures, Steve.cap001.jpgcap004.jpg

A few more options through this supplier,

I like the black cap, now if I could only get a black arrowhead,

Seems this part hasn't quite come ashore yet,

GM Canada did offer the N34 simulated walnut wheel on various Canadian Pontiacs, through I am not 100% on which years it was so.

I have seen a factory '65 Beaumont with the 2-spoke N34 wheel with an Acadian centre emblem.

I have not seen them stock on a Beaumont or Pontiac after 1966, but here's a vintage factory promo of a '68 Beaumont SD-396 that was published in the June 1981 Car Exchange magazine (which is why it says Pontiac Beaumont). You can make out the N34 wheel on the car. It also has headrests & light monitoring.
