67 Parisienne. My son took the car out, he decided to connect his phone to the cigar lighter socket, must have pushed in too hard or too deep and the whole thing fell apart including the light off the clock. The clock light as was able to put
back but not the lighter.
The pictures below show the pieces I'm left with and my Service Manual doesn't have a section on removing or installing the cigar lighter assembly.
From the labels I created in the pictures It seems to me that the bezel goes through the back of the socket first, then these two pieces get inserted from the front of the dashboard inward. So far so good but part C isn't that obvious. It appears like it goes
into the back of the socket B with the open prongs first, facing forward from behind the dash but then the final socket D that has the power fits but loosely, it doesn't seem to hold together. Am I missing a part or what am I doing wrong? If you look at the
second picture, the socket B has a like a contact prong at the back. This contact doesn't seem to be touching anything when assembling everything back. Any ideas? This unit has been working fine ever since I bought the car in 2012.
Is that the correct lighter for that car?
Doesn't look correct for the mid 60's era.
On a 66, "A" slips over "B" goes in from the front of the dash. "D" should be threaded and "C" threads on it with the prongs facing the dash from the rear. Looks like a generic CTC product...
This doesn't look original. A should slip over B, and B should have some threads on it towards the electrical connection. Then the two of them get pushed into the hole in the dash. Then D should go over them from the backside, and thread onto the threads on B. Yours doesn't have any threaded parts, and maybe C is what holds it together.
As previously stated, this looks aftermarket. I have spare lighter assemblies if you're looking for one. If nothing else, I'll see if I can post a photo on Saturday.

When I bought the car the lighter itself wasn't original (it looked like a late 80's Buick LeSabre lighter) and I got the correct one in 2012, working ever since. It's very possible that the assembly isn't original but I never fiddled with it.
