CNC has really cut down on time needed to produce an item, plus it can duplicate identical copies.
By rights, body panels should be able to be reproduced more cheaply. There's a large up front cost with the machinery but then when in production the costs per item will drop when you amortize it.
Where are the plans for the panels coming from? Is there a database, or do you have to plug it all in yourself?
What's next for the winos who live under a bridge who worked at Ghia studios, or Bertone, or Pininnfarina who were knocking bodies off 4 at a time using wooden paddles and heated lead? Maybe it is time to commission a hungry, free-lance body craftsman.
