Has anyone put a T5 on an LS?

I have a friend wanting to put together a swap into an old pickup using an LS and putting a T5 behind it. I told him I'd try to find out any issues he might have making the two bolt together. If anyone has experience with this, I'd love to hear about it. Yes, I'm looking onliine and so far have a bit of info but not much. I know the bellhousing pattern is right although one bolt from the early bellhousing has no hole in the LS block.

no issue bolting them together
the missing bolt hole is no issue
you will need a crank to flywheel spacer unless the motor is a 99-00 4.8/6L truck motor that came with a 5spd from the factory, those motors have a longer crank
how does your buddy drive?the T5 was not known for being strong,Gm never put it behind anything bigger then a 305

Thanks, that helps lots. I don't think he knows about the flywheel spacer. It is a 5.3 truck engine so he will need that.

As far as the T5 being weak, yes he's aware of that but this is strictly a low budget cruiser, a 1964 GMC  2 wheel drive long box that he has already lowered substantially. The T5 will have a very very easy life.

I can bet but it's still a major project so not much to look at right now. However, he WILL get it done. He typically does 1-2 a year of this kind of project besides doing retail hot rod work for  numerous customers.

Not sure what bell housing he's using but he may have to drill out the trans threads as they are bolted to the trans through the bell housing. The WC trans is a bit stronger if he has one of them. Also...shifter mounting. The s10 tailshaft puts the shifter froward(as to clear a bench seat) so you need to combine the 2. Camaro/wc and S10 to move the shifter forward. What did his T5 come out of?? Put one in my 57 and Luv it!!!! Tell him to also get the short throw shifter base...just makes more fun for $$$

I think he said the T5 is from a Camaro but I will likely see him in the next day or so and I'll find out for sure.

All good info guys, keep it coming please!
