really??? i have an 8" rally wheel on the rear of mine, no clearance issues.
BIG cars of that model can swallow up the 8 inch even a 66 model ..The Pontiac post is shaped a little different.. probably not designed for hi performance lol
I ran 225 70 15s on 8" Corvette wheels on my 65 Parisienne Convt and never had a clearance issue. One thing I did notice however was that sometimes one wheel would be a little closer to the fender lip than the other. At the time I put it down to the panhard bar being a little off centre depending on the load in the car, or possibly a weak spring on one side, but I'm not sure what was the issue. On my 69 Parisienne I run the 225 70 15 tire on 8.5 inch American Racing Torque Thrust wheels with no issues, and I run that same tire on 8" Corvette wheels on my 68 Caprice, also with no issues.
offset make a big difference.. I have P235/60R15 BFG drag radial on 7 inch for drags...have 15x7 American Racing chrome wheels for bling bling, and 15x8 for P235/75R-15 for street work..
