I think there was about 244 SD 396 cars built so maybe the number 57 would be how many 66 SD convertibles 396 cars

There is a way for George to determine an approx number of SDs produced. Other than I believe black, SD seats had their own specific colours that they did not share with the Customs. Determine those quantities of SD coloured seats produced and and youll have an idea.

@Carl Stevenson - I'm not really sure on the quantity, but in discussions with others the feeling is there's definitely more that 57 Drop Tops, its basically all a guess at this point. As 70 Acadian SS suggests, the 57 number might possibly be the number of drop top BBC cars? But again, I believe that's just speculation aa well.

@70 SS ACADIAN - I can't really see the Documentation photo you posted, I'm new to this site so I don't know if there's supposed to be a way to enlarge it or?? My car is not a BB car.

66 327 sd - That is a not bad idea, but I wouldn't doubt if Black wasn't the most popular colour? Another way would be to go through all 4000 possible models & record how many were equipped with A51.

They could probably give us the total number of A51 optioned cars there were in 1966 (Beaumont & Malibu SS), that would be interesting.

We should tell George we could help him, send us the records and we will figure out A51 production.

A bit of a correction for the listing of models at the very beginning of this thread...

In 69 it shows 6 and 9 passenger wagons but there were never any 9 passenger Beaumont wagons. The reason for different model numbers was if it had the single folding tailgate or the new for 69 two-way tailgate, rather than being an option it had its own model number for each of the four wagon types (basic L6 and V8 and Custom L6 and V8).

I can edit that. So to clarify, I should remove all 69 references to 9 pass and change them to 2 way tailgate?

The 1965 production started up in August of '64, so there would have been a good 4 months and change worth of production during calendar year 1964. Is that what you mean?

I was curious to know if anyone has ever seen a break down of Beaumont color production numbers? I have a 1968 Beaumont V8 convertible, Tuxedo Black with Red Buckets Console interior. i see there were few V8 convertibles built in 68, but I wonder how many with this color combination?

Thanks Ponchoheart, I have been told that it is possible that there were 22 Black/Red int. converts built in 68, but was hoping for a little more solid confirmation.

The only way to know how many of a certain color is to be George Zapora himself and go thru the entire production microfishe for one entire year, and count up all the model numbers and colors.    Simmilar to how a marti report has been done.  But this is never going to happen in canada, unless someone different takes over the GM vintage vehicle services and spends the time to do it.  Would also probably mean time, and money, and then the VVS documents would rise in costs tremendously.

Would sure be cool if someone did it tho!!!!

One would think that with the computer technology of today...one could feed those old documents into a scanner and have it compute all that info....Ive seen several instances of documents done like that...geneology....government docs....banking....etc. Guess it all depends how ambitious you want to be.

Hey! I see 1968 says 14420 Produced.
I know of a Car that is number , does that mean they skipped some numbers? Or were more cars made?

Good question, and welcome!

I am not sure where the total production numbers figures came from.   Its just a guess, but i think these are total production for sale in canada.  Oshawa also produced cars for export overseas on the same assembly line,  so the total number of cars pumped out at the end of the model year would be much more than what was built to sell only in canada.    hope that make sence.
