1965 Acadian Beaumont SD Convertible Owner says Hello.

Hi there, my name is Jeane and I just found this site.

I'm the proud owner of the above mentioned 'baby' and it's been in the family since, pretty much, Day1.  She's managed to survive the Canadian winters with the expected TLC necessary over the years.

Ken MacDonald (Ontario)(KensKlassicKars), had a wonderful site with every thing you could possibly want to know about the Classic Canadian Beaumonts.  Sadly, his site is gone and I've lost all of the information gleaned from it so many years ago.

There are few of these Canadian built Beaumonts left and I feel honored to have one.

Welcome to another Beaumont owner! You folks are taking over here! (And that's not a complaint)

It's great to have you here, and I want to be the first to say, "we need more pics and the story to go along with your car!"

Thanks for the hearty welcome and compliments.

To answer Stephen: I'm not sure what happened to Ken's site, It was deleted April 2006. I found him in 2000, we corresponded and I mailed him pics of my car which he wrote up on his website. He was so helpful. We kept in touch for a bit.

Found this BC based site http://cdnclassics.chevelles.net/ and Ken's was one of the links. All of a sudden he was gone cry and no one seems to know what happened, although it must have been serious because there is no way Ken would have up and stopped for no good reason.

So here I am. There are few of my car left. I, personally have never seen another except maybe once in Vancouver, 1989, but couldn't get to it soon enough to make sure.

After a lot of searching I've found you guys and you actually seem to know what I have.

As said before, the car has been in my family since 3 months after Day 1. I have all of the original manuals/guides, advertising booklets etc.

It's in fine shape and I have Collectors Plates.   More pics too but didn't want to overwhelm anyone.  biggrin

Also, it seems that I'm one of few women here so didn't want to get too wordy right off the bat, heheheh.

Welcome to the site!

We need more from the different "perspective".

The more pictures the better.

Cheers, Mark.

Welcome aboard beautiful car . Quite a family jewel please post more pics . If you are worried about going on I don't think any one will mind as long as it not about how your lipstick matches the paint.

I read where someone said there were 66 of this model made. I thought it was more at 612 or something. Sooner or later I'll find the notes made from Ken's site.

I've loved this car from the beginning. Got my driver's licence in it but couldn't parallel park work beans in those days.  Only once did I take it to the top of the speedometer but that was when I was young and very, very foolish.

My father handed it over to me in 1982. I didn't have the heart to keep it in my name exclusively so we became joint owners in 1998 because I thought it wouldn't be right for him to ask his daughter if he could borrow the car biggrin.  He lived with me from 1992 until his death in 2006.

I've been asked several times if I would sell.  Even if I wanted to I'm not positive of it's value ( some idea) and I don't know anyone in my area qualified to appraise it.

Oh man, and a 327 to boot!

Is it a 250 horse or 300 horse? I assume either was available?

carl, I'm in NW British Columbia.

The car was purchased in Kamloops BC on March 25, 1965 by the 1st owner (I have the papers). He was a young fella. Apparently his future wife told him that it wasn't proper to have a "sporty" car if he was to become a family man. That's the story as told to me.

My Dad purchased from him a short time later and maintained contact, periodically, over the years.

FYI, the odometer is at 79,467.5 miles, add 100,000 though, so that averages out to about 4,173 5 miles per year. Not too bad considering this car, believe it or not, was a bush car. It's been places you wouldn't imagine.

Who is Kenneth LeBlanc?

We need a new lid. I replaced the first in 1984. My beloved Father lent the car to someone for a wedding (2004). They didn't listen to his explicit instructions on how to put the roof back up properly so the zipper for the rear window is hooped, also a bit shrunk over the years. That'll run around $2500-3000 and couldn't do it this year.

Does anyone out there have the glass window? I'm told they're pretty good but really don't know.

Is there somewhere else around here I should be asking these questions?

A short few years ago on the way to a local car show.
My neighbour won.  Same neighbour has known my car since the old days and gave me a lot of encouragement.

This is his car ..... I took the pic.  He deserved it 100%.

They don't make 327's anymore. I'm happy to have an original, although slightly modified for emission concerns. Still goes like the dickens.

As far as 250 horses as opposed to 300? Shouldn't there be something on the engine that says one way or another? I really, really need to find my notes.

All the numbers match, by the way ........

Looking at your previous engine shot, they are camel hump heads. Indicating a 300 HP.  the 250 HP only had the 896 witches hat heads.
Looks like a rochester 4GC thou.  I thought only the 250HP used the 4GC.

Any other menber coments on that.

Rare as Heck with a 300 HP 327.  You should really get the GM docs from Vintage vihicle services.
With all the GM cutbacks and current economy, who knows how long they will be providing this service.
