Hi guys I noticed that a 66 Grande Prix dash is on ebay right now. Do you guys know if a Grande Prix dash is an exact fit for a Canadian Pontiac dash? My speedometer is peeling a bit of it's paint and I understand the Grande Prix dashes had real woodgrain not the fake stuff so I'm kind of tempted, although the price might be too high in the end.
I'd appreciate a bit of advice as to whether it would be worth the swap.
The Grand Prix dash is wired completely different.
I put an American GP gauge dash in one of my Grande Parisiennes because I wanted the oil and temp gauges. One is a printed circuit, one has separate wires for each bulb and gauge. Physically it fits but it is quite a task rewiring your dash for it.

Thanks Carl I was hoping you'd answer as I know you had done this. The one on offer doesn't appear to have gauges (I can live without them I guess although they sure look slick.) I was more interested in the wood veneer. It appears to be in good shape and I was wondering if you had transferred that to the Canadian dash too.
Are they the same physical size or is the American dash wider?
I never changed the whole thing so I'm unqualified to answer the question about the fit. However, I put A/C into my car and I used an American dash pad on my car and it fit perfectly so I think I am safe in saying they are the same width. I never did check if the wood interchanges but I"m sure it will.
Personally I prefer the Grande Parisienne fake wood because it seems to last forever and stays looking nice. I know the US cars I see in wrecking yards always have junk wood on the dash.

Thanks again Carl. it was just kind of a passing whim. i doubt I'll bid on it. Shipping costs would kill me. (and so would the wife) She thinks I have some kind of ebay "problem"
