67 283 throttle return spring


Does anyone have a good pic of a stock throttle return spring setup for 1967 283 cars  (A-body).  2-barrel
I think it runs back toward the coil area?
Does it attach to the kick-down somehow????  And if so, how would it look for a Manual trans car then????
Also where is it hooked on the carb????

Also, the oil filler tube.  Any pic of a stock 67 one?

This is out of my 68 manual I think 67 would be the same. shows attached to coil bracket. This one has a throtle cable, yours is probably same as with throtle linkage rod style

I think the 67 is a bit different due to the cables on 68.

Would still like to see a 67 set up on an actual beaumont or velle

Yes, that 66/67 one is the only pic i could find. But it doesn't show any return spring detail or coil bracket detail.

I need a detailed photo

the 68 one at the top of the page shows all the details, i just need that detail for 67 now.

That was true for 64, 65's.  Correct.

But in 67 the pring ran back toward the coil bracket.
Just not sure where it hooked and what it is all suppose to look like stock.

Also the oil filler tube lacked the bracket to hook the spring.
Ive seen 2 different styles of tubes as well. not sure what is stock for a canadian 67 283

Found this picture of a 67 chevelle, you can just make out spring attaching to coil bracket. See picture of bracket, has a small tab on it for one end of spring.

I noticed that too, but if you run a spring from carb to thermo housing, the spring binds on hte intake runner.  So that isn't proper,

I guess 67 is a unique configuration.

Here is another confusing one. this one looks like there is another spring on the wire loom and attached to the kickdown.

Which bring up another point, what is the proper wire loom on a 67?

Thats cool,  looks like a very correct 59/60 setup.

Here is a correct 64 setup in my beaumont
Note the wire looms, oil tube, spring, thermo housing, aircleaner, on the 64 cars compared to all the above 1967 pics posted.

You can see there are alot of differences

(excuse my painted coil bracket, temp sender, incorect decal, etc.  This photo was taken during my breaking period.)biggrin

Also note, my 64 coil bracket does not have the spring mount like the 67s do.

OK, so i was confused because you said the tab was for the spring.  I thought that cant be right, because that tab is for the capacitor to bolt on, also it is toward the back.

So i went thu my box of coil brackets and here is what i found

Viola, the 67 bracket has a small hole in the front!!!!! for the spring
(see pics).
Now it all makes sense.  The botom of a 67 carb has a hole in it for the spring, and when paired with a proper 68 bracket, it al works.

as far as i know and can tell my engine is totally original, right down to the original coil. I changed the coil and todd helped me put an mech. choke on, and of course the headers. Yours is lookin really good beaumontguru, some day i will take the time and redo the engine.

There is still something missing.  That hole in the coil bracket can't be right.
The spring binds on the intake runner(even with a really small spring)
Also the angle is goofy.  See picture.

I'm starting to think teh spring attaches to a bracket or a wire loom

There must be someone out there with an unmolested 67 chevelle or beaumont 283 that can post a close up picture of this area

Your right, does not look right to me eather, who new something so simple would be so compicated. I know its a 68 manual pic but look at the
pic to the right with the non cable linkage , looks like the spring mounts
higher on the coil bracket.  I will keep shearching the web and see if there is a better pic. Some body on this board must have a 67.

Yes, i have been searching the net too, but everyone runs a 4bbl or does some hokey setup.
I sent a note thu the beaumont club too, somone must have a pic of the proper setup.

I see in the pic, you are right, look to atach up higher.  It tried hooking it around the screw, it clears the runner, but still doesnt look right on an angle.

It would also be nice to see the upper wire loom in that area too.  It looks unique to that setup as well, that why im starting to think the spring might hook to it
