Stuff was available thru Eastwood and most probably still is. I've bought it there and still have a roll. Isn't there a Cdn Eastwood distributor? Check Old Autos.

there is a product we use for the FX industry that is a flat black low adhesive tape. we call it friction tape. I'm pretty sure that IS what it's called but it could be a trade name. We ordered cases of the stuff for a movie last year. We used it all up, but it looked like the stuff used in older cars with the fabric wrapped wires.
hope this helps.. it was expensive as far as rolls of tape is concerned.. about 8 bucks a roll or more.
