New Booster, but a question?

Just recieved my new Booster from Antique Chevrolet. they got it from Fine Lines in NY, and they apparently got it from MBM brakes in NC.
It looks great, and being from MBM, it's made in USA, which is a nice surprise. I was expecting China Corp.

It has one variation from stock. The mounting studs are all 3 3/8" apart. On the stock original booster, the spacing between the upper and lower studs is 3 3/8", the spacing between the left and right studs is 3 1/2".

A 1/8" variation left and right is small, but will it cause a problem if I slightly relieve all the firewall and pedal bracket holes to allow for the difference?

Any thoughts on the difference. Do I even have the correct booster? It's listed as being for a 1969 Impala.

Cheers, Mark.

Just pretend you are working at the factory... "make a adjustment"    It is so pretty, you have to install it..   I moved my booster several times, on my V8 Sinbird comversion...  Once you bolt it down, we won't tell   wink

I can't see any issue with doing that if it's only 1/8" but it sure does make you wonder with stuff like this why they make it close but no cigar?

Thats the problem with aftermarket stuff, half the time it never fits proper, ever. Its not a good way to make repeat business, they make a name for themselves a bad name, next thing, they have no customers, pitty

I guess it's just the dreaded "aftermarkitis" poor fit after all.

Actually, this is my second attempt. The first I ended up with a booster with brackets, a-la-Camaro. Didn't even make it out the door of Antique Chev.

I'm tempted to just return this one. But I think I'm pretty much at the end of the road as far as what Antique Chev can do for me. Had I a good original, I would have just had that restored. But it was a mess.

I'll check the holes on the firewall and brake pedal bracket, for some reason I think they are considerably larger than the studs anyway. If that the case, It shouldn't be a issue. Just need to find a short rod for the master side as it's shallow not deep.

Cheers.

Contact 68sd396rag on here. He is in Winnipeg and he does tons of brake kits. I have known John for more than 25 years. You will find him good to deal with. Check his feedback on ebay under that same user name. He may well have one in stock for you, ready to go. He does mostly OEM stuff and not a lot of repro so he may have an original ready to go for your application.

I had to adjust the holes on the firewall of my Acadian for the booster, works fine and you can't see the mods when finished.
