anyone swapped the speaker out of the dash?

I remember looking at this before I sent it away last year, I tried to get the grill off but I think its bolted down from underneath.

any trick you have found or am I looking to rip apart the dash.

if no ones done this you can expect some updates from me this summer.

I did this a couple of years ago. I swapped the old mono speaker with a stereo speaker. It was actually 2 little speakers attached to a frame the same size/shape as the original mono.

Yes, you have to do it from underneath. I didn't take the dash apart, but I recall that I took the radio out to give myself some more room for navigating up there.

It can be done, but you might scrape a few knuckles.

Scott where did you get the stereo speaker from? Any modifications for wiring have to be done? My father in law is looking to change the speaker in his 66 Beaumont.

I got the speaker from Custom AutoSound. Here is a link :

I don't recall whether I got it from them directly or through a Canadian supplier.
There is  link on their website to Canadian suppliers.

I didn't bother wiring it to the original AM radio in the car. I wired it to a
new AM/FM/CD unit hidden in the glove box.

I'm very pleased with the sound and I'm sure you would be too.
