1966 pontac parisienne custom sport convertible - BOOT COVER


hi everyone ,

not sure if i have this question in the right place ?

i have recently purchased a 1966 parisienne cs convertible .   i am currently doing a restoration on the car and i am wondering how i can obtain a pattern / picture etc of an original boot cover ?  would anyone here please be able to lend some advice ?   the boot cover i have now is not the original style cover .

thanks everyone ,


that gives me a lot of stuff to work off of ! it really helps me out .... i've got my upholstery guy lined up , he's got my seats , f/back arm rests , visors , wind lace and boot cover ( i wanna get that boot cover back to looking original ) . i have the vinyl (L2300 parchment coming from sms in oregon ) .

the leads (which included pictures to work off of ) you all provided should get me back to an original looking boot cover . thanks !

FYI. I bought a reproduction for my 67 2+2. It fits well, but I needed to have snaps added for rear seat attachment.

So Siggy ... it looks like someone has swapped the grill out on your car for a grande parisienne grill??? or does anyone know if these cars also came with the same grill as my grande parisienne...looks like a great car to restore...big block candidate?

being a novice at this , i have no idea ? yet of all the pictures i've seen of '66 custom sport parisienne none have the same grill as my car ?

a gentleman i speak with regarding my car indicated the slight possibility that perhaps they stopped making custom sport models in 1966 and changed to the grand parisienne in its place .... thus perhaps pushing thru some old name plates etc to get rid of stock ? and then maybe a grand parisienne grill was used as well ? just a speculation on his part ?

someone here might know ....

also , does anyone have  thoughs/opinions on seat spring rust removal ? and gas tank rust removal (outside of tank ?)

- wire wheel or muratic acid ?or any other methods one could use ? (budget is limited )

How did I miss this thread in Feb? A belated welcome here.

Yes, I am sure you have Grande Parisienne grilles that someone installed in your car, not at the factory. They sure look great in the car! I would leave them in. A nice unique touch to it!

For sure I think the Grande Grill looks much nicer..A keeper!! By the way..I think media blasting is the only way to go for rust removal..and not that expencive..you could probably rent a blaster for a weekend and do a ton of good

if the grill is swapped out , would all bolt holes line up on the grill etc ? or would there be extra holes drilled etc ?

all the holes on my car/grill / front end seem to line up ?

in 1966 ONLY Custom sports were like SD Beaumonts   they used the A51 sport option on the 764 Parisiennes  to become Custom Sports,like the A51 ,736 Custom beaumonts become Sport Deluxes



in 1965 Custom Sports were 766 cars
in 64 Custom Sports were 7447 cars

thats cool,it took me a bit to figure that out as well! 

reason being the Custom Sport went from a model in 65 to a option in 66(kinda like 1969 chevelle SS and Beaumont SD

one of the canadian only deals that just not published in US info

The '66 Grande Parisienne had a distinct grill, used only on that model.  It was not shared on any other.  Nor were any "left over" parts at the end of the productiton run installed on incorrect models.  So the Parisienne convertible in question with the Custom Sport option has the incorrect grill installed at some point after assembly.  I'd suggest looking for a front end repair. 

The page above is from the '66 Pontiac sales brochure - the text in the box in the lower left corner describes the "Custom Sports" option, as stated in previous postings, no longer a stand alone model it had been in '64 and '65.  It became a "2+2" model in 1967.

So Ziggy's got a Parisienne with a Grande Parisienne grille.

thanks for all the interesting grlle info .

i have another interior question , i'd like some opinions on . i have a parchment vynil interior :

what color would a person paint the seat backs and sides (the stamped grain metal ) of the bucket seats ?

SEM - phantom white
- super white

are 2 aresol paints i've looked at that might work .... the SEM-parchment paint seems to be too brown-ish to my eyes ?

a saw a beautiful '66 custum sport at the edmonton car show ... he had a parchment interior as well , which he had painted his metal seat backs/sides with "cadilac translucent " , which seemed to contrast a little too much from most angles ?

First off, I should have included previously the page below which is from the 1966 Pontiac sales brochure showing two Grande Parisiennes.   The distinct front grille was not available on any other Pontiac.  Second, my opinion on the seat back colour is to go for parchment.  If you detached the seat backs and took them to a auto paint shop you'd think they'd paint to original for minimum cost.  Especially if you prepped it the way they wanted it.
