68 SD and 427 Cheetah were both correct; purchase the SD no matter the condition as compared to the small block car. I don't mean to ruffle feathers but, as "68 SD" said, in so many words, there is no comparison between an original big block car and a small block car. There were thousands of small block cars made and very few people are collecting small block beaumonts, only those that can't afford a big block car. As an analogy, compare a small block Chevelle with a big block Chevelle; its a no brainer. The only characters that are going to oppose this view are those with small block cars or non original big block cars; just look at it from a mathematical standpoint. The same goes for a numbers matching car; the only guys opposing a numbers matching car are those without. It comes down to the haves and the have nots; very simple. You can make the 68 SD into a numbers matching if you have sufficient funds ie correct date coded block, correct block casting, heads, etc. . Oops, here comes all of the non original car owners with their two cents about the number stampings, etc. as they would sooner have their car, which will never be worth what an original car will be, as opposed to an original car. I personally don't mind a non original car as I'm also a hot rodder and I've had original Vettes and non numbers matching Vettes, and this is where the true money is. If you purchase the SD, whatever you invest will likely be realized in the final outcome, however, if you purchase the small block convertible you will likely be investing at its highest retail value which will not likely ascend to the potential value of the big block car.
Interiors aren't too hard to come by. Hot rods and classics has everything for me. Then again that's in Chilliwack, I'm not sure where all their other facilities might be :/ but if you look hard enough you'll find something :)
