1963 Belair Option code X22

Got a 63 chevy with the build tag still under the rear seat.
Got it all decoded except for option code X22?

Anyone know what it is for 63 chevys

it is also a 396 camaro code, but that is obviously not it, so what the heck is it?

Humm,  getting closer, but i think it might be something else.  Like tire chains or some weird thing like that.

Someone must have a definitive answer out there.
Thanks for the help so far.

not sure when the traction control option came out but it was mounted on the rear inner fenders and poured a solution on the wheels. Just a guess.

ok im not 100 % here but i thought X22 was a bright molding group?

does this car have any extra chrome maybe wheelwell  or driprail ?

might be early for that? and thats a camaro code for 69

most x codes ive seen are export codes or delete codes

X09 Speedo Adapter
X07  Winter tires
X14   Export spray tarp coating for shipping overseas
X17   underbody oil spray protection
X23 spare tire delete

ill look through my doc collection and see if i can find something

Fred, you are right,  most of the weird X codes are export stuff.
Thats why i think it might be a wierd tire thing or something.
X09 was spedo adapter, and there is a X code for winter tires too
But just cant find X22 anywhere

I emailed George Zapora, so we will see if he responds.

Wasn't the X22 the code for big blocks a little later for the late 60's Camaros? Be interesting to hear George's answer.

Nope, doesnt appear to be a bright moulding thing. The car is totally stock belair trim.  nothing obvious or unusual.

X22 a real mistery.

george responded.  fairly vague,  but he said it represents a tire size.
Not sure what tire size, but it makes sence as there is no "P" code on my build sheet.

i always thought  "P"  codes were for tires
but i guess if it was a special size or special tire, it would go in the "X" category.

Been reading thru this thread.
Great that the mystery is solved.
But it leads me to ask " what is so special about 7.35 x 14 black wall rayon tires that they are given a mysterious code? "

Beats me,  why the X code?  all other tires sizes are P codes.

Nope, That was V75 - Liquid Tire Chain (had it on my 1969 Camaro)

I know that Fred had it right for X22 in 1963 was 7.35-14 rayon tire code but I wanted to elaborate on the 1969 Camaro X22 code.
The Xnn codes were used on 1969 Norwood-built Camaros, starting 12B (2nd week of December, 1968). They were an aid for Fisher body assembly workers  to identify trim and paint changes for different Camaro models, divided into 2 groups, those with Z21 Style Trim group option, and those without the Z21 option. Since Z21 was included with Z22 Rally Sport option, all Z22 are included in the Z21 X-code group.

with Z21 or Z22
X11 = non-BB, non-Z28, includes SS-350
X22 = BBC
X33 = Z28

Without Z21 or Z22
X44 = non-BB, non-Z28, non-SS350
X55 = SS350
X66 = BBC
X77 = Z28

Gary

Could be the X-Code denotes a special tire like a multiple ply that wasn't normally available so had to brought in specifically for this and/or other like prepared vehicles?.
The GM Vintage info for my '67 RCMP Biscayne notes Q03 - 8.15x15 4-Ply Nylon Blackwalls..
Anyone have listings showing this code?.

If you're refering to the Q03 code - 8.15x15 4-Ply Nylon Blackwalls that my '67 RCMP Biscayne paperwork notes, yes please do!.

Thanks!.
