12 bolts use one special upper control arm. Essentially one corner is cut off to clear the housing. There is a reinforcement washer welded in. They are available from Year one but you could probably modify your existing arm.
Send me your e-mail, I'll try to send you some pics.

If you have an early 10 bolt (8.2 Ring) the driveshaft is the same length. Late 10 bolt (72 up, 8.5" Ring) uses a shorter driveshaft (approx 1" if I recall correctly) than the 8.2 and 12 bolt.

I would say so, from experience. I think the biggest snag is if you have the two styles of u joints and have to have the hybrid u joint to cure it but that is easy.

I presume your part number on the ujoint is a 355 or AC Delco 45U0113 or GM part number 89029295 (real old # 5698221) that gives you two internal and two external clips, fits driveshaft and rear axle. GM came up with taht ujoint back in the 60's when they came out with the TH400 trans.
I forget! I can check at work again on Monday though. I know it's pretty easy to find when you know what you are looking for and very difficult to find for inexperienced parts guys who have NO idea what you are talking about!
Over the years I've had many distressed hot rodders who were so relieved when I was able to solve their snag with that U joint.

Hi Kevin, I bought the kit from TomsClassics on Ebay, he is in Isanti, MN. I bought the chrome 4 wheel kit, even though the diff i bought has new caliper brackets from Matts Classic Bowtie with it... so if you are interested in doing a 4 wheel kit, I would consider selling the brackets...it uses 80's firebird rotors and cadillac calipers (same as the kit i bought too)...
I picked up the diff in Fargo yesterday...rebuilt... i guess we'll see!

Hey Andrew I'm not sure what I'm doing with the brakes on my car. I'll keep you in mind though. Here's a pic of the 12 bolt I picked up at the swap meet in Wpg a couple weeks ago. Its a 67 housing. Its just the houseing and axles. I have to buy a posi and gears.
I added some pics on a past thread of the back of the console for the bracket holding the emblem. Did you see them?
What gear ratio did you get for your diff?

That's a nice score! My gears are 3:31, but I wouldn't mind even going steeper for a street car... I have 3:73 in the 10 bolt now...
I did see your console pic, thanks! I haven't looked under mine since i put the emblem back in, but i don't remember it fitting as tight as the one in your picture... either way, its in there now!
I'm not sure if going 4 wheel discs would be worth the extra trouble, but i guess i'll find out soon enough!
For now the 327 is going back in, behind it is a Muncie M20. Its a basic 350 horse motor from what I can tell. I have no idea on compression and cam, has a bit of a lope, has 370 heads, headers, eddy torker intake, 650 DP.
and when the time comes...
