67 GP Trunk mat, need some fitting info.

Recieved some trunk mat material from NOS.
Aqua Houndstooth.
They could not get a pre cut mat in that pattern and colour, so I need to cut it myself. My plan is to make a paper pattern of the trunk to transfer and cut.

Does anyone here have a decent picture of a 67 B trunk mat showing how the mat is fitted?

I know it rides up just to the vertical section under the tailamp bezels, sits out to the edges of the trunk pan and follows the curve of the wheel tubs. I'm unsure how it runs across front edge and under the spare.

Cheers, Mark

Mark,
I forgot to remember to send you the arm rest bases. Why don't I send you a pattern with the bases tomorrow?

Rick

Sound good Rick! I'll wait to do it correct.

I know what you mean Jim, that stuff is pretty strong. Reminds me of somthing I've smelled before, but I cant quite put my finger on it. What pattern and colour did you use Jim?

hey maybe you guys can help. We would like to pin down the trunk mat applictions for the 65, 66, 67 Parisiennes. We know the 63-64 are the same as Impala. 68-69 seem to be same as Catalina that is for size & fit. Pattern may be different ?

Dale,
If you want, I could send you my original 67 mat. It's a little dirty and torn but was good enough to make a pattern for Mark.
Or you could ask Mark for the pattern when he's done with it.
When I bought one for my convertible, I just ordered Impala.

Rick

The way I see it, 65-69 should have the same mat fit. 70 if its Oshawa built. It's virtually the same trunk pan through those years. Impala so to speak.
Convertible will be different as the mat will need a opening cut for the spare tire and jack base hook, and it might be cut fuller up onto the intermediate section than a HT.
I think they made a slight change to the center area of the intemediate pan on all models (behind the spare) as at some point they raised a section up into the center of the spare, but all the pans had the spare depression front center. You know, where the water collects and a hole forms!
Although Impala mats may fit, Pontiac pans are different. As opposed to Impala, they also had two different length trunks in certain years 65-70. Bonneville and Executive were usually longer in trunk than Catalina.

The pattern and colours of the mats through the models and years will be the challenge. Lets make a post on the differences.

BTW, NOS has been helpfull to me. Thank you NOS.

Cheers, Mark

Not "big Pontiac" but related. I bought a trunk mat for my Beaumont a few years ago. After storing the car for a winter, I pulled the mat out for spring cleaning and noticed condensation under it and surface rust starting where the paint was scored (original paint in the trunk).

The mat is now rolled up and sits on a shelf in my garage. I much prefer a dry trunk to a pretty one...
