1967 Grand Parisienne front springs.

Been doing some poking around, trying to figure out the best spring that would be suitable for my GP. The stock front springs give the car a nice stance...but only when sitting still. Driving the car with passengers it just totaly sags.
I'm attempting to actually get the car to handle decently, and not sit a mile high.
The GP 4 Dr HT's with SB's were comfort whales. These cars, unless ordered with BB's, generally have relatively soft spring rates, the wagons being the lone exception. F40 (HD) was never offered on the GP's.  BB in this car allowed you into the F41 option, in fact F41 was standard with the big engine GP's.

I think I found a good alternate spring for my car. Through the MPC, Looking at a 4 Dr HT Parisienne, and my 4 Dr HT, I see the same basic spring (CF) was used on the front if a 327 w/M40 was ordered. That tells me the Parisienne and Grand are close in front weight if optioned equally.
But hey! The Parisienne 4 door HT was available with the HD F40 option...Hmmm.

Moog makes a near identical reproduction of a F40 option spring (6194). Its a 67 CQ (Gm 3864720) spring offered in the Parisienne Convertible, HT and 2+2, 327 w/M40.
It has wire .031 bigger than stock, 60lb higher rate, and a slightly higher load, same install height but a 1" lower free height.

So my hope is it'll maintain the stance but have a rate that'll keep the front end up when pushing the car and with passengers. We'll see.

The bottom line is with a little research, you can still get a Moog spring for your SB that keeps the front end out of the clouds. Just ask 427Carl.

From left,         Stock, CF code,        CQ, F40 for 327/M40,     CR F40 for 327/M40/air and 396-427 Basic Strato's

CR springs purchaced from 427Strato. I'm afraid they'll bring the front up just too high so I'll just hang onto them.

My stock springs still had the tag intact!

Show off!!!

Just kidding! That car of your's drives me crazy with all that original stuff on there. I am sure there's not a whole pile of them around with all those pieces with all the little markings etc. I sure hope you are saving all this stuff.
