The 1975 GTO

Stumbled across this pic a few days ago while surfing for info on something else..
It's the '75 GTO!.
Take away the '68 442 angled stripe idea and it looks a lot like a '74 GTO but built on the new '75 body style..
The worst part is the flat hood...no scoops!.

At first glance, it almost looks like a '75 Nova.

Wish they never slapped a GTO sticker on the Holden cars. Look how well the retro Chevy and Mopar are doing.

'71 was the last GTO model I liked. The '74 might as well have remained as a Pontiac Ventura! The '75 is about AS feeble an attempt as the lovely yellow pieces of junk brought out not all that long ago the resembled a Pontiac Firefly on steroids! Only MY opinion fellas and as you've come to know, I certainly have them. LOL!

It would have been a sticker car probably. A sign of the times...

I wonder how early it would have been at this stage? 197? or even 60's?

Ever see a Pontiac Sunbird GTO? What made it special was that some ninny put GTO lettering on it.no.gif

I had heard that a GTO Ventura was planned for 1975 but it was stillborn due to the plan to power it by a Buick 350. I don't know if it is true or not. I do know that by '75 GM divisions were sharing motors all over the place. Buick 231s & Olds 260s in Venturas, Olds 350s in Cadillac Sevilles. There is more of that where it came from, like 1977 Olds 88s with Chevy 350s (class action lawsuit followed). The '77 Skylark ran a 301 Pontiac.

That Sunbird GTO was not a GM factory option. Some wack job dealer glued the letters on the car to try and move out the cars.

I have heard the exact story on the Buick 350 regarding the 75 "GTO".
