A friend of mine has an air cleaner that he bought and was told it was a 67 big block Beaumont. I don't have a lot of knowledge on this part and was hoping someone could share some input. There is no mistake that the lid is correct and the snorkel looks correct but I have not seen an air cleaner with the two large inlet tubes on the bottom half. One of the tubes has a flame arrest screen on it and the other one is open. Any idea where the second tube connects?
Thanks

If nobody answers I can look in the assembly manual tonight for clues.
That is a stumper. Certainly the one tube goes to the grommet in the passenger valve cover for crankcase ventilation, but the other????
Thanks Carl You got me thinking about assembly manuals so I checked my restoration guide and did find a reference in there. It looks like it was used on cars with A.I.R. systems. Now, did they install A.I.R. on Beaumonts in 1967 or is the base from something else? I know my 69 had A.I.R. on it.
A.I.R. was one of my thoughts but I didn't think the Beaumonts ever had it in 67. I also wondered about the base being changed but what are the odds of that and why would someone do it?
And even so, where did the other tube go if it has A.I.R.?

I checked the parts manual I have and the only reference to smog is on the 69. My manual is from 72 so maybe they were deleted by then, I have a hunch that the base is from another car.

Times 2 on that!
Actually you could get an A.I.R. system (smog pump) on 1968 & 1969 Beaumonts. They would have come with manual transmission V8s; also with open element air cleaner V8s regadless of thransmission.
RPO K19 smog pump & K24 closed PCV system were not offered as options on Canadian cars in 1966 or 1967.

I was thinking about it last night and if I am right, the last year that Beaumonts used that (big) style of air filter element, was 1967. The 68 air cleaners on all the engines were a different style, weren't they?

Yes, the 68 and 69 closed element air cleaners are different from 67 and unique each year.
Looks like a 66-67 chevelle air cleaner to me. This is the OPG repop of 66 to 67 chevelle with out the A.I.R.. But you could get the A.I.R. system in the 67 chevelle.
