If you have a small block you have to change the gears in the rear end if they are 308 gs
I have 308 gears with a 396 and at 50 K it runs at about 1200 rpm A friend of my has a 350 in a pickup had to change his gears and went to 373 gears and said it runs alot better
Hope your tranny hump is big enough to handle it and you will want to make sure your rear mount works. Besides that you will want the yoke from the tranny to mate to your drive shaft that will need to be shortened? A 200R4 is alot easier install that only requires your tranny mount to move ahead two inches and match the yoke. Both trannies need the vaccuum swith for the lock up converter installed.
I just did a 66 Camino and the 700 works great. Shorten the shaft 2 3/4, same yoke as the TH350. I had to move the crossmember back 2 inches and I modified it to drop the back of the tranny lower, I have pics somewhere I will send if I can locate them. The 308's are fine if you like the highway gears. I am putting 373's in for the bottom end but the 700 has a lower first anyways so its better than it was. I used the Lokar flexy dipstick tube setup and the lokar kickdown cable and bracket. Holley makes a good upgrade kit for fine tuning the kick if you are running a Holley> The speedo housing is different so check that out , speedo gears etc. Cooler hoses are about the same, no hump problems. Used the shiftworks console shifter kit but I dont like it as I cant get it into manual 1st. Theres not enough throw even with adjusting the shift cable, but it works ok otherwise> i wired the manual lockup switch from B&M as well.
