I have a 1967 Pontiac Beaumont with a motor that cannot be original, so I am trying to find out what it is. I was told it was a 327, but not sure. The numbers are hard to read but the engine code is ??? K0628C4S ??? the block casting number is 3970010 which should be a 1968 if it is a 327. Can you tell me what it is for sure and all the specs for this engine?
Can anyone help this guy please?

The dogs were frisky this morn so the trip went well! The 0010 block came into play in 1969 and was used in Chevelle (Beaumont) Chevy II, Camaro and Corvette, as well as some passenger cars. Chevy documentation shows it was only available in 4 bolt main configuration. It was a completely new block design configuration, and used for 350ci 300,350 hp applications with two exceptions. Those being passenger car 350 ci police interceptor engines 255hp and 302 ci Camaro 290 hp engine. Again all in 1969. I have been told these blocks are very good rebuild candidates as they were cast with a higher nickel content in the blocks. Will dig further into the other number you supplied and see what I can find out. cheers

C4S Suffix is an '82 267 and wouldn't be the 010 block casting so check the #'s again.. Include the additional stampings on the deck pad or casting dates if there's no additional #'s there..

Four bolt 010 blocks were in trucks and vans two bolt in cars unless for HP use. I have two 010 four bolt main blocks and both came out of trucks.
K for McKinnon Ind. 0628 is June 28th that C4S shows up as posted before a 82 267. Can not be as the 010 blocks only go to 79. There was a CGS for a 71 350. You sure the 4 is not a G ?
