I think you have an awful big heart Tom, love what your doing. If you are starting that collection just post an address or send me a pm so I know where to send my contribution, thanks. Jonathan don't turn down a helping hand, I have 4 young adults of my own so I think I know where your coming from. My eldest son is 21 ,awesome kid but he wants to prove that he can do things on his own, stubborn just like his mama....LOL. Anyway, try to accept help when you can, in a " ME " society a helping hand is becoming a pretty scares commodity.

Thank You James! The satisfaction I get from something like this is priceless, it will probably do more for me than Johnathan. I am impressed that someone so young isnt into Japanese tuners these days. He is our future. I truely appreciate your willingness to get involved, but I think we have solved his engine problem completely if he is interested in a 305. But hold that thought for when the bodywork and paint happens! (thanks to Unclebernie for getting involved). I am going to start a thread to collect what is needed to help Johnathan in the next day or so, and If you still feel like helping, that would be fantastic. This was not my idea, others have provided him parts and tools prior to this, I just think it is an excellent cause, and he'll just have to get used to the idea that old CP dudes are allround good people.
sorry i did not adress your post i was thinking hard about what tom was saying but that small block in the gta is way to expensive for my blood and i don't need a 4 speed im happy with my powerglide thats in good working order... On another note i really don't know what to say really all your generosity... it is driving me crazy. and trust me it's hard to accept all this . how about this... after my car is done ill make my rounds to everyone who helped me and others that are in the area's and take them out to lunch or somthing like that i know ill be repaying your generosity some how.... some day.
I have some new chrome valve covers here for a sbc all wrapped to go to him
I will be busy(away) til mid May,
but I have a trailer for engine transport , and I'll give 100.00 to Uncle Bernie to secure a good engine... and a set of new spark plugs.....
Too good! Uncle Bernie is going to have a look at the 305, if it is decent, we will get it to Johnathan. I dont think he's quite ready for it anyway. Carl, you are a good man regardless of what everyone says ;). Johnathan, I understand that its an awkward position to be in, but you dont owe anyone anything. I'd be happy with a picture of you behind the wheel when its on the road. Its a COOL car. You have a tall task ahead of you, and dont let our enthusiasm push you beyond your own pace, but as soon as you run into an obstacle, and you will, just let us know and we'll see what we can do to help. I am going to start a thread for that purpose soon. If you prefer it be kept private, just let me know, but that would make things much more difficult. Never give up!
Free isn't free unless you're a slacker. Take the hand up, and pay it forward ... that's how it works. Look at it as the people here making a downpayment on your future, to be repaid with interest to the next one in need. Noone wins by spending downtime when you don't need to.
Right on. I was just on the Poncho site and saw that young Jonathan is having a hard time. We would like to help. I saw once where he wanted frame mount bushings. If he still needs them just let us know what car it is and Old Gold will send them to you free . If not let us know what he does need.

Here's the pics of the motor. I couldn't get the stamp info off the pad because of the Alt. being in the way. It is complete with starter, alt, fuel pump, carb and dist. You will need manifolds or headers though.
