thats what i thought too , never put sealant on them before and never had this problem. All i did was take it apart to replace the gaskets to stop oil leaks. does the sealent go on the threads ??

Yes, one of our veteran techs in our shop always puts GM teflon pipe sealant on all the head bolt threads where the bolts go in to coolant. I would try that on your's.
