1965-1966 Factory tach installation

I was on Performance Years forum last night searching for factory tach info and came across a great resource if anyone is looking for tach installation in a full size. I just wanted to post up the pics here. BEWARE OF A MISTAKE IN THESE GM INSTRUCTIONS. THEY SAY TO CONNECT THE BROWN WIRE TO THE POSITIVE TERMINAL ON THE COIL. THAT IS WRONG, IT SHOULD SAY THE NEGATIVE TERMINAL ON THE COIL. tach1.jpgtach2.jpgtach3.jpgtach4.jpgtach5.jpg

No but a guy in Australia made some tach cups (I think he made 10) and they apparently are very nice. I think they are 400 bucks for the cup though.

Mine is apart as it is/was non-functional.

That's just pictures I got from someone else. I will be cutting the holes in my dash to make it fit.

Hey 65 wagon, its coming along a bit slow but I am ready to put the sheet metal back on starting tomorrow.  Doing some parts swapping lately has kind of preoccupied me but i have a deadline of September to take this thing for a real long drive, so maybe I'll see ya..

I just wanted to make sure i don't forget this post.  It is going to be useful very soon.

I think you two guys above ^^^^ should get together, sit down, discuss which of your projects are going to be finished, and send me all the stuff that's leftover that you're never going to use....

And Ken, I am dreaming of doing this tach install on mine one day also. So far a dream, but I have two possibilities of purchasing one, so it may happen. The one possibility is a slim one but you never know.

Thank 65, I may try to get up the courage and see what happens.  I just hope it doesn't look worse when I'm done.  Fine work is not my strong suit.  As for my tach I have plans for it.... needs to be fixed cosmetically and the inner workings too.  Then mount her in my 66.  Gonna add up to $.

There is a tach and pot on Ebay right now though but it isn't going to go cheap.
