I am starting to look at getting tires for the 66. It currently has 15" with wires on it from a couple of decades newer, and even thought I'm not driving it I'm tired of the "new" look those wires give.
I want to put 14" on with the stock GP covers but man, what a challenge. 14" is basically obsolete. Best thing I seem to come up with for close to stock look is a 225 70 14. What have you guys run for 14" on your 65-70 B body cars.
And before you suggest it, NO, 15" is not an option for me! I want to run those stock wheel covers.

I just checked my 66 Sales brochure and I don't see any mention of 15" pneus.
Carl my LeMans has 14" Rally II and I am running BFG 215 70 14 as that was very close in height and width to the original G70 14. I get a lot of comments about using more tire however that was my choice.
225/70 will get you 26.5" in a TA. You'd have to go with a 75 series to see 27" in a 14" Radial. And by the looks of it it won't be a TA and it will be twice the price.

You cannot put a Hankook on a 66 Gp Carl. Must be a T/A or a Firestone. Says so in the owners manual. I think Firestones would surprise you (for the better) today.

Order the Indy's from the tire rack Carl. They'll be on your doorstep in 3 days. The website quotes and calculates everthing, including all Prov/Fed tax. You might be able to find the same tires locally, but who carries 14's in that type of tire? I used TireRack last year and they were great. A tire guy I know could get the tires I wanted, but thay were going to take 3 weeks! (17" Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's). Also his price was actually the same...with his discount. No brainer.

My concern about those was that they would look too narrow, not filling in the big open area for the wheels and tires. Are you happy with how they look?
