Has Anybody Upgraded A Clock In Their Car?

I have a clock in my car that is non-functioning. I know that people on this site have said to take it apart and spray some lube and clean the contact points and it might work again, but I'd rather try to install a more modern movement.

I purchased a nice non-functioning '64 Parisienne off eBay and tore it apart (carefully) down to the bare bones. I'm wondering if anyone has done the same, and if they have, what modern movement they have installed in theirs.

By-the-way, I also have a mint, boxed '64 Parisienne NOS clock as back-up.smile

Thanks

Do what I did and set it to 5:00. Like the song says, it's 5:00 somewhere. And that's Quittin Time!

I sent mine away to a guy that had some NOS guts and put it in about 3 years ago. It is sort of entertainment for me as some times it keeps pretty exact time and other times it looses and sometimes it gains but it is always running. I think the guys that need the exact time probably go the the quartz movements but if I want exact time I just have to set it in the morning if I am heading out for the day. Sort of fun hearing the click of the spring when I am out in the garage.

Were you able to still use your original car's hands (see bottom of picture below for my "64 Parisienne hands) with the newer Monte Carlo clock, or did you use the Monte's hands?
