Well, I pulled a bonehead move. I took it for granted that my stock 67 TH400 Torque Converter would bolt up to the HO350 Flexplate. Was under the car today with the bolts and locktite and nearly cried. Should have checked it when it was apart, not when it was in the car. Amateur mistake to be sure.
Anyway, I'm not stressed, and could use a break from the thing. I know the tranny will have to come out, and I'll either need a different flexplate or converter, but what to do? I can't drill the flexplate, the bolts would be on the ring gear.
The flexplate is a GM 153 tooth, one Piece seal... with I think...a 10.75" converter pattern.
The 67 TH400 converter has a 11.5" pattern. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I would change the flywheel, but I can't find any listing for a 153 tooth, one peice seal, 11.5" converter pattern. A 168 tooth would entail a new starter, right?
I'm willing to go with an 10.75" converter, but what should I be looking for as far as stall? Stock, a little higher?
Any thoughts on this?
Cheers, Mark

Racking my memory banks here, but is there not a flex/plate with dual T/converter pattern??? I seem to remember seeing something like this a few yrs. ago???? If so you can move the tranny back just far enough to swap out the flex plate.

168 tooth p/n 14088761 (fits 10.75 11.5 clutch/conv dia) but will need a new starter, i/ve used p/n 1876552 (gm#) before and worked fine.
Best bet replace flywheel, everytime I sell this engine I always advise my customers to put on the big ring gear because the engine comes with the small one and seems to always create a hasle.
