I'm in the Calgary area and I should point out that this was never claimed to be good or bad unit, it was just a reasonably affordable, quick deal to resolve the issues I have with the current 10 bolt .... just peeved that it's no good and going to require a lot more $ that I don't have. There are a few more around, but usually they want high $ and don't know the status of the internals.
IF IT WOULD WORK FOR YOU, I HAVE A '69 12 BOLT POSI. I WOULD HAVE TO CHECK, BUT I BELIEVE IT IS A 2.73. COMPLETE DRUM TO DRUM. I BELIEVE I HAVE THE 4 LINKS FOR IT AS WELL. IT IS USED, BUT CAME OUT OF A RUNNING, DRIVING CAR. IF INTERESTED, I'M SURE WE COULD WORK OUT A PRICE.
Doesn't have to be 3:31, that's just what this one has. I currently have 10 bolt, I think 3:08, so want something close to that ratio, just cause it works well for power and 23 mpg.
The posi would work, assuming it fits? but the 2:73 is tad high
2:73 isn't bad if you have the horses in front of it! Especially with the low first gear of the 700! My '67 Laurentian wagon with the 327 and THM400 has that ratio!!!
I put a 2.56 in my 67 GP wagon with the 396 to pick up the fuel economy. I loved it. It worked well, still lots of power and that car would do well over 20 mpg on the interstate.
