RE: Started my manual trans conversion 66 Grande Parisienne

Looking great Carl. Where did you get the wiring conduit/boot for your power windows?

I was very fortunate. I removed the power window setup from a 66 Bonneville and when I had it all out on the ground I noticed both boots were still perfect, which I have noticed is very rare. They are usually cut open by someone who was repairing broken wires or they are just old and cracked up.

I see there's nice looking repro's out there but it seems to me I saw the price was almost 100 bucks a pair.

Thank you.

The tunnel may not be pretty with it's welding stitches in it but I'm real happy with how it fits the floor.

Yes, to me, almost all old cars should be 3 pedals !

Long time since the last update. I have not done a lot on the car. Seems like the older I get, the less motivation I have for old cars, and the more motivation I have to spend time with my wife and kids. However, I still need to get this car on the road! This winter is no exception, both our kids are basketball coaches for the high school senior boys and senior girls, so I've already put on lots of miles going to games. It's "almost" as much fun as old cars but not quite.

Today I made up a harness for the backup lights, mounted the switch on the trans, made a rod to activate that switch and wired it all up. I knew from testing that the lights worked as far as the wiring to the back goes, but the car was a powerglide so the front part had to be changed. The right side light is dim, a combination of a dirty old lens and also it looks like probably the wrong bulb as well. I'll have to fix that still but at least they're working.

I can't STAND manual trans conversions where guys don't make the backup lights functional. (Sorry if that means any of you guys...!) I've done a number of conversions in my life and every one of them has functional backup lights.

Good stuff Carl.  I bought the backup light switch for my Hurst Comp Plus shifter, it shouldn't be too tough to connect.  I'll just have to wire from the connector that used to plug into the neutral switch on the column to the new switch on the tranny.  Low on the priority list at this point though.
