RE: 1957 Pontiac Laurentian

I don't know much about the other 57. As near as I can tell it's a Pathfinder deluxe with a chevy V8 and floor shift auto of some sort. Something funny going on with his trunk lid aswell. From what my parents have told me the guy hasn't had it very long, it only appeared about three weeks ago.
Mines getting a disc brake conversion in the next few weeks and a roller bearing idler arm. Hopefully some white paint soon

Will, the trunk lid chrome on your car is correct for the Laurentian but the Pathfinder Deluxe that is parked next to your car, did not have that same deck lid chrome. Disc brakes...........sweet but can you use the present steel rims you are using. My last question is about what else you are painting white. Are you painting the whole car in white? Continued good luck with your 57 Pontiac. Cheers. George.

Thats what I figured George. I have a another trunk lid off a 57 pathfinder without the spear trunk handles. I figure someone wanted his to look like a higher model at some point. The disc brakes on mine should be a nice improvement and my wheels should work as I don't think they're original. The plan for the white is to paint the car similar to the 4dr ht on the front cover of the brochure, White body with dark green roof and side body insert. Hopefully find a nice set of v8 script after its painted and put the pontiac script on the fenders as I can't find Laurentian ones

Productive weekend working on the Pontiac. Replaced the carb with a nicer one, upgraded to electric wipers from vacuum, upgraded to power front disc brakes from drums A few more things and we're back in time for next weekend

HEY all....I've been pretty quiet on here lately. Lots going on in my life, new house, new job. We're finally organised and I'm just getting a few of the kinks worked that I found from last summer. I have one of the guys from work helping me with a few of the less pretty body issues. Pictures soon :) George I had someone mention your car tonight at the Paris car show, all good things!

Tried to make it out to jalopy jam up this weekend, but didn't go according to plan and had to turn back in Cambridge. A few new additions to the Pontiac this week. I've gotten my electric fan hooked up and working as well as my "New" hood fitted. Spent several hours with a heat gun and scraper removing the undercoating from the bottom of the hood. We didn't have time to finish the top surface so we just kinda went with it. Found out that my chevy hood bar and extentions I had been using with the old hood no longer fit. I don't want to force fit the bar like I did with the old hood.
On the hunt now for a hood bar and extensions

Will, it is good to see that you are back with updates on your 57. Nice work going on there with the upgrades. So the word is getting out about my 57, it is always nice to get some positive feedback. Will that rusty patina hood you have there must have been on a 57 wagon at one time. The wagon use to belong to a friend and he sold it to a man in the London area. Continued good luck with both your 57 Pontiac and 55 Chevy. Cheers. George

George, I did come from man with the wagon you're speaking of. I got a few other parts off him as well to help him clear out some shed space. Small world! I'm just happy I was able to source a hood relatively local and didn't have to have one shipped from Manitoba. That wagon is still in the London area in virtually the same condition he bought it. I've had a few good talks with Mike about 57's.

Paul, who had owned the green 57 Pontiac wagon before Mike, had the wagon for sale and i was really seriously considering buying it. I thought about it long and hard and then sanity prevailed. I have more cars than i really need. I would have done a complete proper resto on that sweet 57 wagon. Will, yes it can be a very small world sometimes. Cheers. George
