I was looking to put manuel transmission in my car. it came whit a M20 original but i want a overdrive and i dont want to modify the floor and keep the 4speed console. Is it better to put a overdrive on the back off the M20 or buy a Richmond 5 speed. Is the Richmond gone a fit the 4 speed console.

Buy a 5 speed to fit the stock location 5 speed is great for lots of highway miles on
A good friend of mine was over tonight to pick up a transmission cross member to convert his 67 Chevelle from a 4 speed to a 5 speed. He had info with him on his conversion and he is going with a company called Keisler and they have done a great job with their transmissions. They are a little more money but they are built specific to fit the tunnel so everything doesn't have to be butchered and they have multiple shifter locations so they are able to send him one specific for his car. They also supply the drive shaft and all your clutch components. He is running a 427 and they are built a lot stronger than the tremacs so it looks like a sweet conversion. Only draw back is that there is a bit of a back order on them and he is figuring it may be a few months before he is able to do the install. Just google up their web site and they have all the info. Another bonus is their gear ratios too.
About 5 years ago my coworker did a Keisler 5 speed on his 76 Trans Am. From what he said the kit was pretty well engineered but not perfect. Overall he was happy other than I recall him having a glitch with the shifter and 3rd gear. I forget exactly what the issue was.

He is going with the SS700 model which I think is a new model. It is designed for up to 700 hp and from the research he has done the feed back has been very positive. He is one of these guys that is quite anal when checking things out so will be curious to see the results.
If the experience my brother had with Keisler is any indication, I would recommend staying away from them. It took over a year to get his transmission and it leaks. He is still waiting for them to do something about it. From my point of view, once they have your money they don't care about you.
