Is the insert cloth or all vinyl on a 64 Laurentian Wagon?

I CAN'T SAY FOR SURE ON A WAGON, BUT MY 2DR '64 LAURENTIAN SEATS ORIGINALLY HAD CLOTH INSERTS BEFORE I HAD THEM RECOVERED.

I don't think the question is really answered here. The likely reason that Beaumontguru was asking the question is that quite often the station wagon interiors are all vinyl. I know the 64 Parisienne Station Wagon is for sure, but as for the Laurentian I have no idea.

Usually the coupes & sedans had cloth & vinyl, while wagons & convertibles had all vinyl. The 1964 Pontiac brochure is a little sketchy in the details but I would still expect vinyl on a Laurentian Safari. For 1965 the Chevy Bel Air wagon used cloth & vinyl and they made a point of noting that new 1965 feature in the brochure. Perhaps Pontiac did likewise for 1965 Laurentian Safari wagons only. It is unclear.  It has been a long time since I have seen a 1963 or 64 Laurentian Safari in person.

If I can get trim codes for these cars would that help at all? I think they are in the front of the parts book.

Would sure be interesting to see a real photo of an actual wagon,  the chevys usually had vinyl on the wagons and converts.  Chevelles always had vinyl in the wagons,  and the parissiene obviously does too.  And all the beaumonts lines had all vinyl on the wagons too.  But the laurentian is kind of the oddball, and a person cant go by what the US cars had.  I guess norm will have to blaze a trail thru the manitoba snowstorm out to his car! ha ha.

I know this isn't 64 - but it is from the 65 Pontiac Acadian Buick Sales Facts Book
Parisienne Safari - Luxurious all-vinyl trims come in color choice of Red, Turquois or Slate
Laurentian Safari - Hard-wearing, all vinyl trims come in color choices of Fawn, Turquois, Red or Blue.

Perhaps someone on here has a 64 Salesman's Book. ( you might try numbersguy )

PS I'll try and scan these pages in some time.

Okay. I THINK my Laurentian wagon has vinyl with the cloth panels. I know the Parisienne I sold a few years ago which was the twin to mine (MR409 was going to winter drive it and I couldn't let that happen) has an all vinyl front and back seat as the guy who owns it now had it repaired and it looks great. For some reason I am sure I pulled back the cover this past summer when my back was so bad I could hardly walk and I saw cloth inserts. The bloody car is in a portable garage at my daughters, snowed in but now I really have to find out. So this week I will put on my mad trapper hat, fur gloves, take my snow shovel eh, and snow boots and check it out. Will try to get pics too. Stay tuned dudes! Norm

Okay, so I slogged over to the portable garage, my grandsons were supposed to dig out around the door but naturally they were somewhere else. Dug about 3' of snow and got into the garage. The seats are just like the picture by Beumont4008 with all the imprints on the top. I do have pics which I will post when I get back home. The seats are not that bad, looks like they have just come apart on the stitching but going to have them fixed so they will last another 50 years. Norm

for what its worth I have not seen a 60's or 70's wagon with cloth inserts. Have owned 2 Impalas, Cutlass and a Mercury. All had vinyl seats. Friends with wagons were always all vinyl

Dale, should be able to post pics Friday. I am having sample material sent from some company in Oregon, likely you know the company but I may be able to save what is there by just having it resewed. When I got the car back in the 80's it had seat covers and I have kept covers on it so forgot what the seats really looked like but now I know. Norm - the 64 Pontiac Parissienne wagon I sold did have vinyl seats and the new owner had them repaired. I think it is on the Manitoba Street Rod Association website.

So here is my 64 Laurentian wagon. It has original paint and interior. It was bought in Ontario and I am the second owner. I bought it in the 80's and it now has over 200,000 miles. I pulled the motor and trans in 95 and had them rebuilt. It was a Janer, no PS/PB/radio/clock/map lite. One day at the wrecker with my friend Tom Milne a 64 Pontiac Parissiene fordor hardtop was left and thanks to him I got the tilt steering, PB/ map lite, tissue dispenser and clock. It also had a day/nite rear view mirror but it was too wide for the sun visors! By then I had already installed original PS. I have done some body work and two falls ago replaced the spare tire well. It has been a great car. So now I know what it has I am going to get Sew Fine Interiors in Winnipeg Beach to repair and repad the seats - that way I will be able to see over the steering wheel and maybe help my back.

Amazing   I never saw a lower, or middle level, wagon.. with Vinyl...

I had a 74 Montego wagon, 76 Buick Century wagon, a 77 Pontiac Safari wagon, a 79 Mercury Colony park, a 79 Plymouth Caravelle wagon, a 79 Buick Estate wagon, a 1981 Ford LTD wagon..all with full vinyl

I hope you are not going to spend a "ton of money" replacing the cloth/vinyl instead of "ready made" vinyl...
