I want to install lap seat belts in the back seat of my 65 Parisienne Convt. I am not sure how to do this. Would like to know location to drill holes to anchor them.
Geez i never thought to look that close before. Turns out both of the 65 Convertibles we have have had the interiors stripped right out of them and guess what, there is no sign of where the seatbelts would have been anchored. I sat there for about 15 minutes trying to figure where they would have put them based on bolt holes and sturdy parts of the body but I have to confess i don't know either. Other gurus please chip in here!

On my 66 2dr Hardtop the attached picture shows the bolts that I left in the floor pan when I did the primer. They are the green spots that show in the back seat area.
Don't think it will help. The convertible back seat area is quite different than the hardtop. There are no obvious anchors. Here is a pic I took this morning of the good cars back seat area.
Might have been more apparent if the car hadn't been gutted so thoroughly.
Have another view from the underside that may help. Have circled the mount plates that are welded on the rear seat pan. The pan doesn't look to much different to me.

Thanks guys, i think i can figure out where to anchor them from the picture of your 66. I guess 66 was the first year for anchors in the rear seat. I want to be able to take my Grandchildren for rides and my daughter will not allow it without seatbelts, otherwise i wouldnt bother.
I think that must be the case but with the underside pics to guide you you should be able to come up with something. Not too sure how great lap belts alone are in a collision but i guess they are better than nothing especially with no locking seat backs back in those years. From what I've read lap belts have been responsible for some bad spinal damage in the back seat of some collisions.
I had a 70 full size Chevy that had shoulder belts in the back seat...apparently that was a rare option.....
How much damage/trouble would it be to put shoulder belts in the back of an old Poncho from the 60's?
I think that must be the case but with the underside pics to guide you you should be able to come up with something. Thinking about lap belt always reminds me of a Bill Cosby quote from his 200 mph monologue: "The only thing seat (Lap) belts are good for is so the ambulance driver can find the body!" Still i always buckle mine up and I was actually stopped once in Fort Mcmurray for a seat belt check. The cop came up and laughed and said" I guess this thing is to old to have seatbelts eh?" I told him, "No they had em and I'm wearing it" even though I had to hoist my gut out of the way so he could see it!
If there is a tidy way to install shoulder harnesses I hope somebody here would share it. For Convertibles it would be especially challenging as you'd have to use low mounting points.

Someone I met at a car show has a 69 Bonneville convertible with rear shoulder belts. Next time I see him I'll ask him and if lucky, I'll take a look myself. I remember them coming out from the side as opposed to the top of the seatback.
For what I understand in my research years ago, theear center optional bets were attached using the existing bolts from the two existing inner belts.I dont think you'll find too many rear seat belts in any GM prior to 67 in Canada.
